I plan on buying into BCV in the next week. I think we will buy 270 points. At this point range, I can get one of two incentives:

$1350 discount on my purchase (essentially $5 a point incentive) or
10 nights at one of the Disney Deluxe Resorts to be used between now and July 1, 2003 (blackout periods apply - Christmas, Easter, Presidents Day).

I'm still torn between the two. Obviously, this works out to $135 per night for the stay - a price I don't think I can replicate even with the best deals out there. However, I won't use both 10 days and my point allocation for this year - so I guess I could just bank for next year. But, we weren't planning on spending 10 nights at WDW this year - so the $5 point incentive my be better for us.......ANYWAY... I'm curious, for those who have already bought into BCV and made this decision, what did you pick and why?

Personally I would start with whether you want / plan to go back to Disney for 10 days or not during the time frame? If you don't then it's a no-brainer.... If you do...

You can either A) use your points and stay in a room that IMHO significantly exceeds the quality of the other resorts (Deluxe included!), OR trade out your points and stay in the hotel of your choice.. Either way you don't spend any additional money and you still get the discount. or B) give up the discount and stay in the Deluxe's...

I would take the bird in the hand.... My wife however would do the opposite :) and take the extra nights...

Good Luck!

I don't know if this will help you or not but we bought 260 points in February and took the 10 nights free stay. However, I asked our guide if we could get 2-5 nights instead of 1-7 night and 1-3 night. She got it approved so we are using both of our 5 nights this May at the BWI so our teenagers can have their own room and don't have to listen to Dad snore! LOL. If we had taken the $5 off per point, we would have gotten $1300 which is what 2 rooms at CSR with a discount was going to cost for our previously planned May trip. Now we get to stay at a deluxe and we have all of our 2002 points to use next year.:D

We just bought at BCV and we picked the $5.00 per point credit on the cost as opposed to the free nights. Our point allotment is enough for us to visit as much as we like so . . . I took the cash!! Perhaps we would have come out better dollar-wise to take the free nights but I would have felt compelled to use them AND our point allotment before they expired. As much as I love WDW - I still gotta work sometime!! Congrats - I can't wait til July 1!!

We just purchased at BCV over Spring Break and took the $5 discount. Initially, we were really set on the free stay but our guide (Mary, who we think is great) helped us work through the different scenerios. Our big thing was we had to finance part of our purchase and I had in mind a certain percentage I wanted to pay cash. By using the $5 discount, it went towards our downpayment so we ended up purchasing more points that way. In the long run, I think this is what is going to work best for us b/c our family of 7 will need larger accomodations for several years to come which costs more points vs. 1 free stay. (one other thought is if you have to travel during peak times, we were told the standard rooms used for the free stay go quick, so you might be out of luck for when you plan to travel) Don't know if this helps, but it's how we worked it out in our crazy minds!!:jester: See you at BCV!!

We took the $5 off incentive for a few reasons, 1) the free rooms are standard rooms and we like to stay in the water view or savannah view or what ever the upgraded rooms are and you can't upgrade them. 2) We were told there were limited availability on these rooms. 3) I knew if I could be staying in a 1 bedroom at BCV I would be disappointed staying in a "regular" resort room.

We took the 7 Free nights (we bought 210 points) b/c we wanted to be able to bank our 210 points for 2002, and we were planning to go again in June for our 2nd wedding anniversary. This way we get to stay at the resorts for a full week and still have extra points to pull from for our 2003 use year. It worked for us! :) We're excited, and we're flexible in the dates that we can go, so we saw no problem in the "limited" availability. We'll work something out! :)
