The buy where you want to stay thread has me thinking.
I own at VWL, and I am happy to stay there.
I am planning a trip for the last week of April, 2005, and I kind of had my heart set on BCV. I was going to go with VWL if I could not get BCV when the 7 month window opens.

Should I just book VWL, and try to change after the 7 month window opens? Or should I just leave it to chance that I won't have a problem getting a ressie for the resort and week I have chosen?

I m still pretty new to DVC, so I could use any advice I can get.

I'd book VWL so you know you have a place to stay, and then try to change at the 7 month window if you can.

I am doing your plan, in reverse. We own at BCV but I love the Lodge. I have booked BCV for Spring break 2005, but in August I am hoping to switch to the Lodge. I always book at 11 months... better safe than sorry.

Sounds like DisneyNutMary and colleen costello should PM or e-mail each other to make each other a reservation where they each want to be.

Bill in PA, how would that work? For future reference, say Mary and I wanted to do this. What's the easiest way? I make a res and so does she? What happens with "whose points where?"

Thanks.

Good idea, and those are some very good questions.

Of course it would depend on what we each want to book. I am planning to book a studio, because we are planning two trips in 2005, and want to stretch our points.

Would it also make sense that if I book at VWL a similar accomodation to Colleen, and when 7 months rolls around, we some how switch accomodations? Does anyone think Member Service would allow that?

This deserves some looking into! Thanks everyone:teeth:

Mary, owners can transfer points between their accounts. I did this once when I rented points from another member. I guess it could work like that, without money changing hands. I would book a reservation for you, make it in your name. You could then transfer that number of points to my account, to "repay" me. At some later date, you could make a Lodge reservation for me, in my name. Then I would transfer some of my points into your account, to "repay" you. I think this would work although I am sure there are some restrictions on transferred points. You could even transfer the points first, then use them to make the reservation -- that's what we did with the rental. And as with renting, trust would be involved. I think this type of "relationship" with someone who wants to "swap" resorts with you will make a lot of sense as it gets harder to book at the 7-month mark.
