BCV housekeeping problem

I wanted to pass this along and know that I will probably get flamed. My friend got back last night from a stay at the BCV. I asked her if the accomodations were up to par and she said for the most part. They did have a problem with housekeeping. The sheets were obviously NOT changed in the master bedroom. It took over four hours and three trips to the front desk to have the bed made with clean linens. I do not know about you, but I am getting pretty tired of hearing these housekeeping complaints. When are they going to get their act together?

If every person who encounters the problem, writes a letter of complaint, it will get fixed. I suspect several of us just vent here and do not follow through with an actual written complaint. FWIW, I worked in customer service for a large corporation and complaints (especially written ones) were closely tracked and monitored. It was NOT pleasant to get one.

Best wishes -

P.S. If you haven't already, please encourage your friend to write a letter of complaint.

Just to clear this up for my tired brain, the bed sheets had not been changed from the last occupant?

No flame, just want to understand what happened.

Sandy

The bed sheets had not been changed from the last occupant. I have strongly encouraged her to write a letter. We bought at the BCV because I loved the location, proximity to BW, Epcot and MGM as well as SAB. But I am getting real frustrated reading about rooms that are dirty and definitely not up to the standards that I bought into.

I hate to even write anything about housekeeping or damaged furniture because it seems to be a constant topic of discussion. But after recently writing a check for our condo fee, I am becoming frustrated at hearing that units are not clean and furniture, walls, etc, are at times excessively damaged.

In the near future I will be at BCV with my sister-in-law and niece and my mother. I will be very disappointed and even somewhat embarrassed if I get a unit which is in bad shape or not clean. Of course I will immediately go to the BC management to get it rectified and write a letter, etc. like I had to do in '03. Our entire unit had to be re-cleaned after we arrived.

We own at the BWV and BCV and love them both as well as their wonderful location. But in my opinion, there is no excuse for a unit which is not cleaned properly. It is the responsibility of the resort and DVC management to make sure the units are clean and sanitary. This is very important not only for their guests enjoyment but for their safety/health.

I hope I have a good experience like some of you have shared over the last months.

I am a BCV owner, and we love it there, and we always will....... but you are right, I will have to be more forceful about writing letters, etc. I DO fill out that survey thing, then forget about it.

I have no idea why they seem to have more problems at BCV then other DVC resorts. It is not just housekeeping, it can be the front desk, too. (And I am not saying I ever encountered a rude or nasty CM.)

They did have a problem with housekeeping.

I certainly hope your friend & anyone else who has issues with housekeeping, engineering, front desk, etc. talks to a supervisor. On our last stay at OKW we had some issue that I refer to as "lack of attention to detail." One issue was taken care of by the housekeeping runner that night. About midnight I left a message for the housekeeping supervisor (he had been the OKW supervisor for only a few weeks). He called me first thing in the morning. Within two hours of our discussion, everything was taken care of. Housekeeping bent over backwards to take care of everything.

The poster above that says it's important to make a formal complaint is so right. If they hear from enough people, they will have to do something about it. On the other hand if people just vent here and never write that letter - or email (it's so easy) then how is Disney to know that someone is slacking off and that the guests are disappointed in their stays. You do us all a service by making sure this problem is corrected. If I get to stay in a clean room because someone took the time to bring attention to the problem then I thank you.

Last year we when we got to our room.It seemed as if the last occupant returned to room after housekeeping cleaned. The room was clean;.The bed however appeared as if some one took a Ahem quick "nap"ormaybe just a quickie.
They also left some a suits in dryer.seems as if they took a dip in the pool and returned to room.
We complained and the problem was resolved very fast we recieved free cupcakes.

Being a dvc member puts us a disavantage in the complaint department.
$$ customers compain and get upgrades or comps.we realy can't don't.
I think that cash customers get treated better inthe complaint department.

I am sure that my friend is writing a letter. Ok, Housekeeping forgot to change the sheets, but then the situation is made even worse by them taking over 4 hours to rectify this. She went down to the front desk twice and her DH once. I find that totally inexcusable..

Thanks for posting the complaints. I was able to book a 1bdrm this morning for the first week of April. Whoo Hoo!

Coincidence? I don't think so. ;)

We just had a bad experience w/BCV housekeeping, too. The manager eventually had to help us out-even moved us to a new room- but I do plan to write a letter to member services. (never got a single "welcome home", either)
On the flip side, SSR was wonderful :)

What I don't understand is according to the dues statement at BWV, the housekeeping budget went down! The housekeeping budget for 2004 was $4,166,958 or .8523 per point; for 2005, it's $4,047,659 or .8279 per point. That is one area where I would not like to see them cut back on. It is the largest part of the budget.

rinkwide, let's hope that you do not have the same problems that my friend and others have encountered. I did not post so that folks would stop staying there, I posted to let others know that this occurred and hopefully it will not happen to them. I for one, am checking the sheets before I get into bed. I own at both BWV and BCV and these occurances will not stop me from staying there, I will just be more vocal when these type of things occur, speak to a manager and write a letter when I get home. The best consumer is an educated consumer! I will be at the BCV in late August.

My last stay in the BCV i was sick b4 we left. I had left a present my friend got me for my birthday in the bed (It was a pink teddy bear). The next day when I go to pack when we get back from epcot it wasn't there. I'm guessing they don't check the sheets for anything b4 they take them off :magnify: . :sad2: they really need to do something about the cleaning service there. I'm going back in March and i'm going to make sure they do it right.

So why this ongoing problem with BCV? If only an odd post here and there, I'd figure bad experiences happen with a housekeeping off here and there. But I've read so many posts re housekeeping issues there. I though DVC sells a superior quality timeshare experience (and hence the higher maintenance fees and buy-in price compared to other Orlando timeshares, for example). We own other timeshares, from no-name to Marriotts and HGVC, and we have NEVER heard about so many complaints re housekeeping at any single resort over the years on TUG or other bulletin boards. And every one of those resorts' maintenance fees are significantly less than BCV's (when comparing similar time period and unit size). We are waiting for the ROFR process on our first DVC purchase -- at BCV -- and reading about housekeeping issues at this resort AGAIN really bums me out -- takes away some of that "magic" when thinking about the prospect of becoming a new member. I'm not even going to tell DH about this thread else he'll feel upset as well.

DD and I stayed at BCV between December 26th until January 2, 2004.

The only complaint I truly have is that the microwave was left dirty and I found two Fruit Loops on the floor in the living room between the TV Armoir and wall. Oh, we had three remote controls and only one worked. But that was easily taken care of.

Other than that, just some natural wear and tear.

We only received one "Welcome Home" and I think that is because both the DVC members and regular guests go thru the same doors. How is someone suppose to know to "Welcome you Home"?

We loved our stay at the BCV and hoping that our next stay will be just as nice.

DD loved it there, but me I love my "HOME" at SSR!

My two cents... we just got home from BCV 6 days ago. Our only complaint would be housekeeping. It seems like a small issue, but your comments have convinced me to write a formal complaint - I don't want the problem to persist for the next 37 years. We stayed 8 nights, getting full housekeeping on day 4, and towel/trash on the day before checkout (which makes no sense - another issue...) Not sure what we should have gotten for the "full" housekeeping day. It appears we got nothing more than the standard towel/trash service. Specifically, the unit was not vacuumed, nothing done for dishes, bedsheets not changed, no replenishing either dishwashing or laundry detergents. Towels were left in a stack on the vanities. I assume this is substandard (?).
FYI - I know I've wondered about routine maintenance on the units. On Sunday, 12/26 - the busiest week of the year - Villa 452 was emptied to the walls - including headboards. I peeked in and saw workmen doing touchup painting on the white trim along the baseboards. Our 2BR also did not show significant wear, and only minor maintenance issues (a couple loose kitchen drawer knobs, no lock on 2nd bathroom door).

Does this resort have all the problems because they are using the same staff from BC . And all other DVC resorts have there own staff ? Well the BWV is the same way. just a thought. on my last trip my only complant was on the balconey was thousands of spider webs. I love my BCV and hope to have a clean room when we get there.
