BCV Furniture in disrepair

We just returned from a studio at BCV, had a wonderful time, but was just disappointed in the condition of coffee tables, furniture in room. Carvings in the tables, water damage from glasses...truly sad....It may have just been the one unit, but has anyone else noticed this in other units?

Our room was in pretty bad shape too, stains on the table and some wall damage. The corners of the walls were all chipped up and there were a lot of huge marks on the walls.

We transferred over to the BWV for the second 1/2 of our vacation and the room we had there was in much better condition. I think the textured painted walls over there(BWV) hold up a lot better then the tradional ones at the BCV.

Part of the problem with BCV is everything is white. It highlights each and every paint chip and stain. The decor at the other DVC resorts is much more forgiving. I think it would be worthwhile for DVC to provide coasters in the room (the cheap disposable cardboard kind). These could even be provided from the DVD advertising budget if they were printed as a sales pitch (own a piece of the magic, etc.). Members would take them home and use them, it may prompt some DVC questions at your next grill-out.

Our 2BR villa had worn carpet in spots, but that's all I noticed. Otherwise, everything looked nice.

had no problems with interior of rm. 458 back in 10/03. balcony could've used a good cleaning though.

Room 241 had a broken chair spindle located at the island, ink marks all over the upholstery on the banquette as well as terrible stains on the living room sofa. The kitchen table was full of deep scratches and the finish was peeling off. I agree that for a newer resort it is not in the best shape. Are we as owners to blame, I for one give my unit as much care as I do my house, I do not know the answer to this. What I do know is that I am very happy that I have the means to afford DVC, and I want to be proud of my investment. But when you take guests and you are so proud of your DVC, you want them to say WOW, not why did you buy into this.

Gonna take a wild guess and say the damage is probably from renters or those, just that booked through Disney for a few nights.:sad2: And although they too paid a good amount of money, their thoughts are probably, "what do we care". They may not ever stay again. But like those that are in DVC sees it like you said, and respect it as thier "home" and treat it like such, so when they come back it's still nice. Plus the more damage, does mean more work/cleaning and won't it jsut mean in the long run, highering dues for that resort. Also Is it right to think BCV sees the most turnover of people. Being so small, I'm assuming just as someone is checking out, there is another party ready to take that room, with few hours. It's ashame they can't have someone take care of the stains quickly. Because we all see ware and tear for our own homes, but when you see food, or other stains on the furniture, that is just gross! We have a steamer vac and I have washed spots on our couch and it dries within hours. What has to be done though is to get those marks, before they set in. If we spilled something, I would try my best to remove the stain, or worst comes to worst call mousekeeping and ask if they have a stain remover I could use. Or at least let them be aware of it.

We stayed in room 347 (1 BR) back in May. It was our first say as DVC members and I was a little disappointed with the room. The chair arm had been cut by a child with a knife, the cushion on the sofa had crayon marks, the sofa arm had stains on it and someone had split coffee on the side of the breakfast bar (which I cleaned off). We didn’t complain, it was our first stay and so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Even so we had a great time and loved the BCV location and SAB. But the room could have been in a better condition. I don’t think the hotel staff make much of an effort, the location and the pool sell the hotel, so it’s always full. The interesting thing is that we stayed at the BC 12 months before and the BC room was also in poor condition and dirty. I think the problem is wider than just the BCV.

The chair arm had been cut by a child with a knife,

I'm not trying to be picky, but how do you know it was a child?

I would personally hope that no adult would be that disrespectful to anyone's property.

We'll never know who causes this damage or why. But we can report it promptly and firmly to the hotel manager and to housekeeping and, if it's bad enough, to DVC customer service.

The best time to make such a report is the moment you've found a problem. Sometimes the WDW resorts can be amazingly quick about fixing things. It doesn't always work, but it works often enough to be worth a try.

One can hope. But it happens.

I have friends that work at the BCV and they said that as much damage is done by members as nonmembers. In fact at the resort more damage is done to the BCV than YC and BC combined.

Sainthood isn't one of the requirements of becoming a DVC member, so I wouldn't be so quick to assume that non-DVC hooligans are the culprits in every case. The members who treat the property with care would do so anyway whether it was at BCV or Motel 6. Then there are those that just don't give a hoot what condition they leave the room in for the next guest since they'll probably never have to stay in that room again anyway.

Why can't the mousecleaning staff report damage after a guest exits the room? That way it would be possible to track damage done to a room after each visit and then charge the guest that caused the damage much like they do at apartments after a renter moves out.

We noticed the same issues with our room a couple of weeks ago, coffee table was missing several spots of paint, walls looked like they needed some major touch up work, over all, even DH commented that the resort looked much older than it is. I could post a long list of things in our room and balcony that needed addressed. So no, your not crazy, we saw these things too.

It could be used to make repairs more quickly but it may not be able to hold anyone responsible. To do that the guest would have to do an inspection on check in and sign off on it and do the same at checkout. Otherwise it's a my word against yours situation.

To do this checkin would have to be changed to after 8 pm.

We took family last year who stayed in a 2br and there were serious markings on the dining table and I remember other things too but don't remember the specifics when we checked in. But after DS and family left I was appaulded at the mess they left and how bad the place looked. I would have cleaned but had to go and only saw it as we were on our way out. I was so mad that we will NEVER invite them again. I don't know if there was just a mess or anything else they may have been careless about but I was and still am so pi**ed at the lack of care. They have never been to my "real" home and when I find out they are coming we are planning a trip to our other home without them since we don't want them here either. That was our first and last experience with guests.

On my stay at the BCV's, in a 1 bedroom in January of this year we had some problems. Seems just about all of the kitchen drawers were falling apart. You'd pull the handle to open and you'd be standing there with just the drawer front panel in your hand. Couple of the drawers just fell apart! We called, but all they did was just snap them together. No glue, no nails. So the next time you'd open the drawer, Just a pile of drawer parts again.
