BCV Furniture in disrepair

OK guys, like I said before, rats are my phobia and really freak me out. When I was about 11, my girlfriends brother let his pet mice under the bathroom door that I was in. I was so scared. From that day on, I have had this giant fear. I have not seen any rats in all my 12 visits. Please fill me in on where you saw them so that I can avoid that area. I know that they can be anywhere, as someone in here posted, but where specifically have you seen them? Was it in the parks, restaurants, hotels, or jogging on the street.

I have never seen one in a building, so I don't think you need concern yourself. Rats usually like dark areas, bushes, dumpsters, near the banks of water areas, etc. Just make lots of noise as you go place to place and they will be gone before you get there. :)

I have never seen any rats, Thanks goodness..

i just want to point out that when i stayed at the WLV last january, we had trouble opening the couch bed and the supervisor of the housekeeping came by along with maintenence and strucked a conversations with them. They told us that we would NOT BELIEVE some of the damage the guests have done to the villas. They deal with this every day. and i asked the same thing whether it the nonmembers who does this and they said no. It ANYBODY who just does not have the respect for the property whether you are a member or renters. It really is a crying shame that there are people out in this world that would do this. When my family and I stay each time at the villas, the housekeeping/maintnence must love us becuase we are cleaning fanatic people as well do not do any damage. I will be staying at the BCV for the first time this nov, and i will have a hissy fit if i got a really damage room but i don't expect a perfect room either!

You know, it is a dangerous thing for Disney to say, "Home away from Home" resort because there are some people who don't even keep up with their own homes either!! Please don't think we are 'snobs', we are very down to earth folks, but we just like to keep things in order and have the highest respect for property at our home as well as other places and i teach my children the same.
:)

Wait a minute, did that rat have big ears, pokadoted pants and march in a parade? I think there might be some confusion here.

That's got me thinking, is their some type of anti bacteria spray to clean the counters off. If not for food, but to dust too. I know here I have to dust at least every 3 days, if not 2.

Sounds like we have a lot of members who are spoiled (brats).

Spoiled brats, you must be joking. It is not being a spoiled brat to expect that your unit will be clean and in good order. We work hard for our money and to be checked into a unit that has popcorn on the living floor from the past guest is totally unacceptable. Finding hair on the toilet seat, in the sink and on the floor shows me a lack of cleanliness. We have all layed out our hardworking dollars and have come to expect a certain Disney standard. Call us disappointed when this happens, but not spoiled brats by any means.

Patty3 - No, I'm referring to those that are doing the damage.

Considerate people take care of things.

I have to wonder if destructive and messy guests are doing MORE damage since there is NOT daily housekeeping?

If rooms are cleaned daily, a housekeeper can get out that nasty stain before a week goes by. Mold doesn't get a chance to grow quite as much. And disrespectful and destructive guests will KNOW that someone WILL see the room before they check out.

I wonder how much money members save by not having daily (or maybe every other day) housekeeping? Is the maintenance costs to clean and repair so high, that a balance could be struck between the two that would help units stay in better shape, while not breaking the bank?

I tend to agree with you. However, if my dues are going to increase, I'd rather they go to staff to do "check out inspections". IMHO, those who cause the problems should be held accountable.

I've often wondered why DVC doesn't have a "sheet of expectations" for guests checking in. We've received such things when we've stayed at other timeshares. The sheet says how we are to leave the unit (i.e., beds stripped, dishes in dishwasher, etc.) and that we will be charged for damage above normal wear and tear. DVC could tell people to do a quick inspection when they first arrive in the room and to report anything not working/broken so as not to be charged for it later.

Anyway, if necessary to stop the "spoiled brats", I'd rather pay for inspections than extra housekeeping.

I agree. I like the idea of a sheet of expectations. Sometimes warning people is enough for them to pay attention::yes::

do you have daily maid service at home? People should learn to own there own problems. If you spill something clean it up or call the front desk and ask if you can borrow a stain remover.

Agreed! I do think a "check out check" would be nice too though. Kind of like they do when you rent a car. That way, if there is a problem, it is reported at the beginning of the stay, and noted again at check out. It also points up EXACTLY when a problem has occured. Of course, that would mean added work hours too, so again, added expense for all of us.

Even If it adds a penny or two per point I would go for it. Like that one commercial a long time ago said pay me now or pay me later. In the long run paying for someone to check the room out on check in/out would cost a lot less than having it fixed down the line. At least it gives DVC a chance to collect damages from the ones who do it. Of normal wear and tear would not be included.

has been with the sofas. They are too hard, too small, and no matter resort we stay in, we can't fold the bed after we've used it. Our last three stays at HHI and/or VWL we've had to call maintenance to repair or even replace the sofa. We don't spend an awful lot of time in the rooms, but when we do we'd like a comfortable sofa.
