BCV for cash

My friend is not a DVC member but wants to spend 14 nights with her family in a 1 or 2 bed villa at BCV next August.

I don't want to point her in the direction of renting points as she has never heard of the disboards, has never been to WDW before and would feel nervous about a transaction requiring so much trust with a person she doesn't know. I cannot rent her my points as I need them!

Can she book through CRO? They told her BCV was not released for next August yet. Do they only get inventory if a member exchanges through II or something? Or do they get an allocation of rooms at 11 months?

Is it very tough to get a cash room at BCV through CRO? Any tips or experiences to share?

Thanks so much!
Mandy :)

There are always a certain number of rooms available. She just needs to call back when they are in the system.

I don't think it is that hard to get BCV on cash, as they are so expensive.

There should be some 1 and 2 bdrm villas available but the cost would be too much for me for 14 nights. I think that the 2 bdrms run about $400 or more per night. Tax is added to CRO inventory also.

Thanks for the replies. I will let my friend know.

Are both lock off and dedicated 2 bedrooms available for cash?

Mandy :)

Last year they were. We rented a dedicated 2 B/R at the Beach Club for 14 nights during Xmas with an AP rate.

Wow! That is amazing. I never thought that BCV would be offered with AP rates. Especially at Christmas. Can you remember how much you paid/saved?

Also what is the bed configuration for the second bedroom in a dedicated 2 bed at BCV.

Thanks so much! Great to know my friend has a chance at a Ap discount.

I went back into my checkbook, and as I see it and remember it, it was somewhere around $562.00 a night. I promise it was an ap discount, because that is specifically why I purchased the AP. Remember, though, that last year, I went 12/14/06, which was the off season and the rate carried through through after X-Mas. However; that no longer applies with the AP rate. You may have seen that in 2008 rates will change with the season the reservation is in. But AP rates are changing at X-Mas this year. Big discussions over this on the resort/codes and rates boards. I might add that I noticed for some people, it was better to book at the regular rate, rather than the AP rate because of the $$ amount saved by going into the holidays during "value season" this year. Make sense?
I really had to get my calculator out for our X-Mas trip this year because of the change in policy over AP rates. If you give me the dates, I will plug into the AP web-site and get a price. I do know that because of our upcoming trip that they are in fact offering villas at the BW and BC for X-Mas. (Probably limited at this time, but persistency pays, as we would have had to move rooms last year and a 2 br came up about three days before our trip.)
The room itself was dedicated, so the layout of the 2nd bedroom was the same as a normal studio at the BC, with the exception that when you walked into the room, the door is on the left and there was a nice sized closet where the door would be if it were not a dedicated studio. Also, I don't remember there being a small kitchen area. I could be wrong, but we stayed in a studio in August 2007, which was a dedicated studio and one stay is overlapping my memory into another. I'm sure a DVC member can chime in and clarify the room layout.
On a footnote, I was just aware of the rent/trade board last year, and just happened to stumble upon it at the same time a few people were scammed. So it scared me. But since then, I have done my research and rented three times. I would recommend at least giving your friend the information about the rent/trade board, as I have saved an enormous amount over the summer using rented points, rather than AP discounts. Also, I like the flexibility of being able to purchase the dining plan w/out regard to our tickets.
Take care,
Ruby

Thanks Ruby for all the info. I will mention renting points to my friend. TBH I think she is soooooooooooo confused already! Talk of AP rates, different seasons and room types..LOL. She is going to get Dreams Unlimited help her. If a AP discount comes out, she can buy herself an AP. Her trip is last week Aug, first week Sept 08. AP discounts wont be out for a while I imagine.

Thanks again!
Mandy :)

Don't know if this helps you, but I was able to book an AP rate online last night for a BCV studio 9/25 - 9/28 this year. It is $225 per night including tax.
