I am staying at the BCV in a 2-bedroom (I have a confirmed villa with 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom).

This is my first time staying at the BCV (I own OKW). So I requested an Epcot view. Shoud I keep that request, ask for something different or just don't ask for any specific view?

My 1st request is No Smoking.

I would appreciate any and all opinions.

Thanks.

Seeing as there are only 25 units iwth the 2 beds, I think it won't matter. More than likely you will get what is open in that category when you check in.

I requested the very same room. We are going in Dec. I was not sure what I was getting, but it is on my confirmation. Sure hope I did the right thing.

when did MS start admitting that BCV had an Epcot view again?

that is very good news!!!

Epcot view is either a "love it" or "hate it" for most people.

The people who "hate it" talk the most about the road noise. There is a road that goes right next to the property. It can be loud, depending on what you define as loud.

The people who "love it" like that you can see "some" of Illuminations, and Spaceship Earth.

However, you really should evaluate how you vacation. If you are a park commando where you are only in your room to sleep for the most part, the view's probably not going to impact your vacation. You won't be around to see it it you tour that way.

For some people, they stay in the room, they eat breakfast on the balcony or patio, they read during the day, etc. Maybe if you tend to "stay home" a lot, a view might be a higher priority.

But you also need to realize that what you get is solely a function of who's checking out of your room type the day you check in. BCV has nearly 100% capacity all of the time. You get what's available that day.

And I'm with spiceycat...they are admitting to an Epcot view again? For a while they refused to even put Epcot view as a request.

Why did MS not admit to Beach Club having a Epcot View? I have to ask. I have not been on the boards or familiar with BC for that long.

Too many people being disappointed with "partial" Epcot views. The policy change occurred when Soarin' was built.

I did not know they were allowing it again, either.

Glad to hear they are taking Epcot view now. It seemed silly not to.

Like Sammie mentioned there are only 25 rooms so if there were equal checkouts through the week there would only be 3-4 opening the day you arrive.

If you haven't done this already, go to http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-bcv/. Diszip has put together a great web site that has a bunch room views. You can get an idea from that.

Also note where the 2bdrm w/2Q's are located. I didn't think of this last time when I requested pool view. There are only a 3 pool view rooms (that are known) and two are on the ends (not really pool view). There are none on the first floor and most on the 3rd.

We had a Epcot view on the 3rd floor (367). We did enjoy watching the higher fireworks in our PJ's, and slightly noticed the road noise in the early morning. The view during the day wasn't the most inspiring over the canal.

I would say if you think you will be in your room at 9pm and would enjoy watching the fireworks then keep the request.

I just stayed in the exact room request you have in January. I checked in at 2pm and the CM showed me 4 available rooms of that type to choose from. She guided us to the one 4th floor Epcot view. I had Epcot view once before and thought it was alright. Your room will face the service areas of Epcot with a service road running past your balcony. The fireworks view is OK. But ask yourself, how many times are you going to be in your room at 9pm to enjoy the fireworks, versus being in the park to see them, which is much better IMHO. I would ask for another view with a large balcony instead.

An Epcot view does not mean you will be able to see Spaceship Earth. Only a relatively small section of the rooms can see SE while all but one side of one wing has at least a peek of Illuminations.

I have always supsected that the reason Epcot view wasn't allowed as a request for a time is that people had this misconception and expected to see SE if they were on the Epcot side.

But the CMs at GS have always been willing to work on the words to get the request in.

I enjoy that side of BCV because of the view of Illuminations but also because of the peaceful feel to it especially in the areas of the Fairy Ring and facing the BC/swampy area.

Others love the pool view and I have to say that has grown on me too.

I agree that since there are only 25 units, I would try to not get too concerned about the view.

On our last trip, our balcony faced the entrance area where the DME picks up and drops off. Not a great view by some standards, but it WAS pretty fun to watch the different reactions of people as they arrived at the hotel..from awe to excitement. Also, there seemed to be only two reactions of people who were leaving: disappointment or exhaustion...never at the same time. :rotfl:

Isn't it funny how people differ on views. We just got back from a trip with my parents (mom and stepdad). They had the most awesome view of SSE, and she was on the 4th floor. To my surprise, she was a bit disappointed. She said she didn't realize how high the room would be (she had always been on the 2nd floor), and she was sad she couldn't see the turtles and fish because feeding them in the morning was one of her favorite things to do. I told her, in the future to request 2nd floor woods view over canal.

I could IMAGINE being "disappointed" with the room she got, but :confused3 to each his own!!!

But, I do echo many of the posters on this thread. One of the things it took me a while to come to terms with as a BCV "frequent guest" is that you REALLY cannot stress out about the view you get. The villas wing is so small, and on any given day there just are not that many rooms to be had. We just go expecting NOT to get a great view (and, honestly...most times we don't) and think "BONUS!!" when we do. I really liked our room last time (even though it was a dreaded HA room). We did have some "adjusting" to do, but we were at BCV....seriously, how bad could it get??!!!

As others have mentioned, it really depends on how you vacation. I would choose a larger balcony over a glimpse of the fireworks. I also wouldn't want the road noise. The view over the quiet pool is nice. And it's also quiet! No pun intended.;)

I can see why they wouldn't have called it an Epcot view. I'm sure many guests were & will be disappointed when they actually see the view.

But everyone has different ideas of what's a great room. So just take the time to think about it, before making changes.

Since Beca quoted me I'll explain the non-inspiring view...
At night with the SSE lit up, the lights and fireworks it was very nice, but I found in the light of day the view of the road, back of Epcot and the canal not to be as nice, not horrible just not as nice. This is a little thing so I hate to mention it, but there were a couple pieces of trash in the canal by the bridge that stayed there the whole trip floating around. It really bothered me. Isn't it funny how something so small can influence your perception?

Just a quick clarification...I have stayed with what used to be called the Epcot view. SSE is on that side and since it's so big, it's hard to miss it. If you are on the ground floor, it's probably not visible much, but it is on that side of BCV.

I have also stayed on the little wing that juts out the middle. One side is what was termed the Epcot view and one was the Woods view.

Check the map that lisareniff mentioned and you'll get a better picture of the layout.

I'll reiterate that I am not a huge on view. If I get it, great. If I don't, mostly no sweat. I'm still going to enjoy my vacation.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm not really worried about any view, I was just curious about everyone's opinions. Since this is my first time at the BCV, I wasn't even sure what the Epcot view was. I've stayed at the Beach Club many times and I'm happy no matter what I'm looking at!

Now I understand why, when I was making the reservation, the CM asked me to hold on to see if there was an Epcot view.

I also didn't know there were only 25 rooms with the 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom. I'm surprised I got it. I made the reservation in October and I was waitlisted for that type of room and the waitlist came through in December.

Thanks again for all the replies, I'm getting excited about my trip!

OMG....I hope I didn't offend you?!! Seriously, I was not trying to comment on you liking/disliking that view at all. I was just commenting that "views" are a funny thing.

:goodvibes

No, No. No offense at all! I just felt I would add to my 'not inspiring' comment since the conversation was going that way and was remembering those pop bottles.

I've stayed on the Epcot side a number of times now....maybe 8 or so? It does not matter what floor you're on....you can not see SE from many rooms because the BCV itself blocks it.

From the very highest numbers you can see it. I would think that the rooms on the very end of the Y facing the NE may also be able to see it.

But you can not see SE from most rooms.
