Bcv/bwv - Walking To Epcot

My DH and I bought 150 pts at SSR in November and we're thinking of doing a small add on (Yes - addonitis already!) at either BWV or BCV.

Looking at maps it seems the Beach Club is slightly closer to the International Gateway - but it also looks like the Beach Club Villas are at the Epcot end of that resort and the Boardwalk Villas are at the opposite end of the Boardwalk. Is this right? Does that make the walk from BWV much longer than from BCV?

Thanks for any advice,
Debbie

Yes...the walk is a bit longer from the BWV, but a nice stroll it is. :sunny:

Remember you would have the boats from either resort too! :goodvibes

WE walked from bmv to epcot with a young child. Also the frindship boats always shuttles back and forth.

remember at BWV you can walk to both Epcot and MGM. From BCV the walk to MGM is much further.

It still takes less than 10 minutes to walk from the BWV to the IG.

BCV is closer to ECPOT, but it is a lot farther from MGM, than the BWV are from ECPOT. We can easily walk to MGM from the BWV. IMHO, many BWV rooms are equi distant from EPCOT and MGM. (Plus BWV has the option of Boardwalk views and the less expensive standard views - which are arguably, the best baragain on property. Of course, BCV does have SAB). :)

Best wishes -

I would agree that it takes the same time to walk to either from BWV. However, I have walked pushing a stroller form MGM to BCV and beat the boat my family was on back, now I will concede that I was walking briskly, but it only takes about 15 minutes.

We have some strong walkers on this board. I have stayed at both and would not walk to MGM from either. I tried it from BWV once and decided not to do it again. BCV is much closer to Epcot than BWV, depending on where your room is it could be half the distance. That said, the walk from BWV is very pleasant.

Thanks for all your advice. I think we will probably go with BWV, especially since they might be available thru Disney and BCV might be a long wait!

Thanks again,
Debbie

It makes a lot of difference where you are at BWVs - if you are at the far end of the resort, you take about a third of the walk off. I've done it to the front of the building, and I wouldn't do it with little kids or my mother in law - but it was fine for almost 40 me - and would have been a breeze 15 years ago.

I don't find the walk to MGM nearly as pretty or pleasant as the walk to Epcot. There is something really charming about the walk to Epcot and the international gateway. The same can't be said for the path by the parking lot near MGM. I've always wondered if it wouldn't be possible to put the path on the other side of the canal and have you walk through the S&D - but I supose there are service areas or somethiing in the way.

My daughter can do the BWV to Epcot walk and has been able to since she was four - and she isn't a great walker. Probably more telling of the distance is that we could actually piggy back her home at four (she's now six, she walks!) if she was really tired at the end of the evening. We would have to take turns or have her walk some. Personally, I don't consider the difference in distance to Epcot to be great enough to factor it into resort choice.

Like others have said, If you are planning on walking to MGM, then BWV would be better for you. If it's just walking to Epcot that you want, either place is fine. I have stayed at BWV and BCV and I loved them both!

The difference in distance to EPCOT is much, but the walk along the Boardwalk is great. I love enjoying the atmospere of the shops, restaraunts, etc. It is just the little things that you see everyday there that makes it special. The additonal few minutes walk is very enjoyable.

we have actually stopped taking the boats to epcot because we can walk faster. We generally play a game as to who can spot a rabbit first(it never fails we always see one)on the way .We dont see too many in New York city.
lol :rotfl2:

We've walked from MGM to BCV at park closing. Walking is nice but somewhat lenghty, however not crowded unlike the dock or the boat during closing.
