If I want to get 100 points at BCV with a Sept UY, is it better to buy through Disney? Looks like an add on of 100 points through Disney is $106/pt for a total of $10,600. Looks like resales are in the low 90s, but none have 08 points, they all have points coming in Sept 09. If you add on in April through Disney, do you get 08 points when your UY is September?? If you do, I assume you could bank them right away?? If they do come with 08 points, then to compare them I would add $8/point for 08 points and $3/point for closing costs meaning the resale break even price is $95 for a contract with no 08 points.

Am I doing that right?? :confused3

Yes, if Disney has BCV points to sell you with September UY, you will get the 08 points.

The way that you have it figured, seems right to me and that it might be a bit more expensive to go through Disney but maybe not enough to have to go through ROFR.

Good luck!

I don't think I would consider resale on smaller contracts unless the savings was at least $5 point. The hassle would not be worth it to me...

The problem you would have is availability of the points you want from Disney. If they are available -It gets you points for 08. There is no Guarantee they would have them. I would check with you guide and see if they can waitlist you. Barb

My guide told me (when we were waitlisted for 3 months for June UY BCV points that never came through) that they may or may not come with banked points- it's whatever they buy back. We gave up waiting, and went resale- I am waiting along with everyone else to hear if Disney rofr's us or not- it's very frustrating, but I ran out of patience waiting for points through Disney. Hope Disney has lots of points just waiting for you if you decide to go through them!!:wizard:

For our initial BCV contract (we were already DVC owners at time- different resort) we attempted to go through Disney and got on the waitlist (Oct UY), at the same time we kept an eye on re-sale. After about three months of waiting a 100 point contract came up through TTS (with an April UY) and we jumped on that. That being said we now have 250 points at BCV and bought all the others direct through Disney. If they had the points available through Disney we would have went through them the first time simply to avoid hassle. BCV retains its value to the point that smaller contracts really dont save you much through re-sale.

A recent BCV 100 pt contract made it thru ROFR at $80 pp. I think you can easily get a BCV resale in the low $80's.

I bought one contract resale and all the rest from Disney. The bookkeeping is a hassle and not worth the savings in my estimation. That's why I am selling the resale VB contract.

Don't quite understand the book keeping comment, once your in the system there is no difference from buying resale to buying from Disney. I'll say it again and again if you can save a significant amount of money why not buy resale.

I'm the one who recently got 100 BCV points, April UY, at $80/pt, and I was thrilled :banana:when it passed ROFR. Even with closing costs, that's the equivalent of $84/pt from Disney.

In the interest of full disclosure, we have to wait until July 10 to close (apparently the sellers are using some banked points between now and then). But since we already had enough points for our May '09 vacation, I didn't care. We'll be getting the 2009 100 points and will bank them for use next year.

I did make my offer the day the contract showed up for sale at TTS; it wouldn't have lasted very long.

That I get! What a great deal! Hard to understand what makes Disney ROFR! Maybe they were afraid the economy would continue to deteriorate and they did not want to commit to what they might want and at what price in July?
