BCV 1st timer. Ground floor vs. upper floor - which would you suggest?

The title of my post kinda says it all. We just got moved to BCV from BWI (forgot I was on waiting list). We are only staying for 2 nights (doing 3 nights at Poly, 2 at Universal Lowe's Royal Pacific, then final 2 at BCV). I would like to know if there is a benefit to being on the ground floor as opposed to an upper level. I read that ground floor rooms make it quicker to walk to Epcot, but I am wondering about noise and reduced privacy. I am fine with whatever I get, and I am not expecting anything, but if there's a slight chance I can get what I ask for, it would be nice to have that option!

You save a 30 second elevator ride, and maybe a 2 minute walk to the elevators depending on where you are, but you could have that walk with a ground floor unit. The ground floor will have not so good view, and you will not have a balcony (you have patio)

I personally would prefer an upper floor (as is the case with all resorts - I like the Balcony over the patio).

IMO there does tend to be less foot traffic by the BCVs at least in most areas compared to other resorts, so I do not see a ground floor as being as big of a deal. I have been there where the quiet pool was a little loud one night.

There is not a whole lot as far as views go from BCV, if you get on the one side, you can possibly see parts of EPCOT (top of Spaceship Earth).

I myself would still request a higher floor however.

I should have asked this before we went last summer. We requested a ground floor and received the exact room and the main reason for this room was hoping we could run out the doors and go straight to the pool but that is not possible. Instead you have bushes that you cannot go between then have to go around to the main gate so it ended up not working out for the reason we were hoping. You also have less privacy on the ground floor from people at the pool who can look into your room or if you are out on the patio there are no private conversations. Room was still great but would have preferred being on a higher floor next time.

Over the boardwalk you do want an upper floor. With a pool view some of the ground floor rooms are nice. You can walk right out to the hot tub.
No, you can't. You can't lock your door, the pool is gated and your patio is surrounded by shrubbery.

Deb you are right I was thinking bwv but it’s probably not even possible over there anymore.

So the benefit I find when staying at BCV on the ground floor is on longer stays when I am shopping and bringing my groceries to the room. This is fine for me when in 1BR but I prefer dedicated 2BR's and at BCV the 2BR on ground floor are all lock offs.

When I have stayed the past few times I actually request "near elevator" Unlike at most hotels you cant hear the Elevators when near them because the rooms spoke. It gives me the quickest way out not just to Epcot but if going to the pool or the BCR shop and restaurants. I have gotten my request filled each time I asked for it. I would imagine there are many guests don't request it due to fear of noise.

When at other resorts especially spread out ones like OKW & SSR I usually request "near transportation" as my 2nd request for "Ground Floor" as these resorts do have 2BR dedicates on the ground floor. I have had both requests filled when staying my past few times.

A caveat is that I never check the box prioritizing time of arrival over the other requests.

Have a great trip!

I've had ground floor rooms facing the pool the last two times staying at BCV. Both times there was a small path worn out in the bushes where we could walk through. I prefer ground floor rooms to avoid elevator waits. Only downside was hearing pool chatter and the gate slamming late into the evening.

Key words. Not a sidewalk. Not a walkway. Just guests being rude.

I hate ground floor because there are ALWAYS people walking by that look in. Constantly. So we kept the curtains closed, but that makes for a really dark room. We prefer open curtains, so we’ll do anything to avoid ground floor.
