Is it worth upgrading to a water view rather than a standard view at the beach club?

We've stayed standard, garden and water view at BC over the years. While we really enjoy a water view, we'll book garden view in the future. For just a few dollars extra per night (for us, it's always been $6 - $10 extra per night), garden view guarantees that we won't be overlooking the parking lot or a roof. Our garden views have always been quite nice - especially the ones near the lobby!

We love to stay at BC, but for us it's a stretch $-wise to begin with. We're there because of location only, and be considering we don't spend that much time looking out the window of our room we've never considered paying more for view.
Hope you have a great time. The Beach Club is a wonderful place to stay.

Standard view will be a view of a roof or parking lot. For a few dollars more per night, you can book a garden view which is a view of something green. It can be a courtyard or dense wooded area or garden. Then for quite a bit more money, you can get a water view (which is self-explanatory).

Whether or not a view is important or not is up to each individual. When we check into a hotel, I look out the window once and then the only time I'm in the room is to change clothes, shower or sleep and all those times the drapes are closed. So for me, a standard view or any yucky view is fine. I could care less. But there are some people who actually spend time on the balcony having coffee or wine or whatever and enjoy the view. Everybody is different.

The water view is nice .... IMO, one liitle problem is the afternoon pool activities ... specifically the DJ's that insist on turning up their microphones very loud ... we had a great view our last trip but the because of noise, we will choose YC next time.

Both the BC and the YC have water view rooms overlooking SAB (where the noise from the pool comes from). However, both resorts also have water view rooms that do not overlook SAB and are at the opposite ends of the resorts and only overlook the lake. So, if the noise of SAB is a factor and you want to book a water view room at either the YC or BC, be sure to note on your reservation that you do not want to overlook SAB.

I would upgrade from a standard view to garden view as the difference is minimal, but water view is quite a bit more. Unless you will be spending a lot of time looking at the view, I don't think it's worth the extra between standard and water view.

Go with a garden view........well worth it.
We recently did a 1 night stay at BC (pretty much because we were really missing SAB while staying at the Boardwalk .), and we figured what the heck, its only one night........lets go cheap and get a standard view room. Well is not just about the view ! We were luckey enough to get a standard view room that overlooked .................. yep, the front entrance/valet area. Yep, that circular driveway area right in front of the beach club.
All I can say is wow............I never realized how busy that main entrance is. And talk about bus traffic. Holy cow, never really thought about just how many "magical express" buses they are running. It wasnt so "magical" trying to sleep in that room. It was loud, and very bright from the front main lighting spotlights. Well at least we had a standing room only balcony that overlooked the main entrance. Anytime we felt the need to inhale some bus fumes........we could just open the balcony door.
Lesson learned .......no more standard view anymore for us.

I wish families of 5 could book a room with a view, but I think there are only a few of those with a daybed.

I'm ok with no view, though. I usually only use the balcony first thing in the morning to sit by myself and drink a cup of coffee. I'm so bleary eyed at that point that it doesn't matter what the view is :)

We have resorted to booking the Deluxe CL rooms at BC for our family of 5. Lots of extra room, all have great views, and guaranteed to have a daybed (with lots of room for a roll away too.). I wish we could book the deluxe room without the CL option, because we dont use CL enough to make it "worth it" for us. But the deluxe rooms are great, so we do it.
They are a very tough room to book though. I think there are only 6 of them total at BC. We were lucky enough to book a deluxe room for a week this summer ........ and use the 30% off offer.

We are finding it tough for our family of 5 to stay on property AND have enough room so we dont get on each others nerves. BC deluxe room works for us. We dont book it for the views (which are great), but for the r-o-o-m .

We had a room upgrade once that was a great view of the lake and had a daybed. 4th floor overlooking the volleyball court. I didn't book it, so I don't know what type of room that was. But it was great and had a view and daybed.

I wanted to go for the deluxe room, but it not being on the lounge floor was a deal breaker for my husband. I won the Disney vacation battle, so I have to let him win this one.

When we booked our recent trip we called to use the AP discount on a standard room but there were none available. The next price range up was lagoon view and it was quite a jump in price. We took some time and thought it over and decided to ask about a standard club level room and it turned out it wasn't much more than the lagoon view so we booked CL instead.

We overlooked a partial roof at least 2 or 3 stories below at one point but otherwise we were looking out at the rest of the building and part of the Villas I believe. It wasn't bad at all. And much to our surprise in the evening we could see the fireworks at MK.

To me I would rather spend the extra on something like club level with extra amenities, food, service than to look out at the water the very few times we sat on our balcony. And yes despite getting my one and only desperate with of a full balcony I probably spent a total of 30 minutes there my entire trip so the view just wasn't that big a deal for me. DH used it nightly while he had a beer but he thought the view was just fine as well.

I probably wouldn't go above the small price increase of a garden view myself.

We like the garden view rooms. Most of them are close to Epcot. Some rooms will give you a partial view of the highest Illuminations fireworks.

We've also had free upgrades to water view rooms, which is nice.

I have stayed once in a Standard View room (big tree blocking my view, but peekaboo views of Illuminations and a distant view of the MK fireworks) and once a Garden View room (overlooking BC back entrance, GREAT people watching)

Personally, the view isn't important to me, so I opt to save the money. I do still love a full balcony, though, no matter what I am looking at. Even a rooftop is beautiful in the Disney bubble!

Here is the info from the Yacht & Beach Club FAQ thread about views at the resort. The purpose of the threads below is to give some samples of rooms in various view categories at the Yacht and Beach Clubs.

Several people have posted photos and I think all of the view categories are represented. If anyone has pictures to add, please do so.

What will the view from my room be?

Effective with reservations on January 1, 2011, the view categories at the Beach and Yacht Clubs were reclassified into 3 booking categories:

Standard view- parking lot or rooftops
Garden view- something green- trees or courtyard
Lagoon or Water view- lake or pool

I started up two View Threads in the Resort Photo Subforum:

Beach Club Room Views

Yacht Club Room Views

Absolutely not! We just got back last week and had booked a garden view room. The first room we were given had a view of pool area, but because it was filthy, they switched us. We were then moved to room 4581 down the hallway and we had a full balcony and a great view of the lagoon and boardwalk area.
