OK This planning just keeps getting crazier. I just found out that Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club Pool Slide will be closed when we are there in February.
So my question is:

Since we are going first week in Feb, should I just say we won't be swimming anyways?

Should we change over to BWI? We are renting points so we are limited to where we can go.

Will they let you pool hop if your resort's slide is closed?

BTW my kids are 5 & 7 and we are taking our grandparents in their 80's so if you think the BC will "wow" them, please let me know as we have not stayed there yet and would like to take them to a nice resort with easy access to Epcot/MGM.

Thanks for any advice or opinions.

Without the pool, Bc would not WOW me. We stayed there and much prefer the look of the YC. If you do not plan on swimming, I would go with WL or AKL- where the theming is more outstanding. BWI is very nice, too. Bc is my least fav resort so far (except for CBR).

Yes..they will tell you what pool to go to..no problem there.

We are trying beach club this weekend...saved it for last..since we really didn't care for the look inside either. We prefer the BWI or Yacht Club..but only time will tell, after this weekend.

Please let me know what you think about BC. We are staying in the villas and right now we have our "renter" checking to see if we can switch to BWI. I would like to have an answer for her if we decide to.

Susy, thanks for your reply. I have heard that BWI is noisy. Anyone have an opinion on that. Also, like I said we have elderly with us and they REFUSE to have a wheelchair so that was another reason to go with BCV for ease to Epcot. How far is it really to walk to EPCOT from BWV?

Thanks again! I guess either place is gonna be great since it is DISNEY!

I agree it would not wow me without the pool either. They would probably send you over to the Boardwalk. Since the rooms are similar I would just stay there. We like to be in the Epcot area. For wow factor as far as rooms go, I love the Contemp. tower. Nothing like a huge bathroom and wonderful views.

By jolly! You're RIGHT!!! I had booked the Beach club and then read your post....THANKYOU!!! That's the only reason we were staying there...they confirmed it's closed starting Jan 3rd through sometime in February....I quickly got back my dialing fingers and got a Tower Room at the Contemporary...would rather pay less with a standard but they have nothing available from 1/2-2/16! :) Guess I'll be checking everyday.

Thanks again for the heads up!

The Beach Club Villas and the Boardwalk Villas are set up the same, but have different decoration. I prefer the BCV, they are quieter, no noise from the Boardwalk, and they are a closer walk to Epcot than the BWV. However, the one thing I think you should really think about is the walking distance at the resort itself. Unless you get a room near the ONE set of elevators at the BWV you could have a VERY long walk to the elevators. Since you mentioned your elderly parents, I wanted to make you aware of that fact. You could request a room near the elevators, but it would only be a request.

The distance should not be an issue because you can go on the boat in front of BWV and it will take you right to the International Gateway. I've never found BWV to be noisy (but I've never had a BW view). By the way, you can't rent a room in the Inn (BWI) with points.

Thanks. I know about the difference, I just keep typing BWI instead of BWV. It is because we fly out of BWI here in Baltimore and whenever I start with BW I always add an I:p

Thanks for the tip on the elevators, I had heard that before. What about view from Boardwalk Villas. I hear from the Beach Club Villas you can see some fireworks if you are in the right kind of room. What about elavators in the BCV? DO you have the same problem? Only one set and are the halls long? That is definitely something to consider.

Thanks again for any and all responses.

The BCV have 2 elevators so the walk isn't that bad. You can see Illuminations from some of the rooms. You must request an Epcot view. However, some people have complained about this view because it's very close to the road and there was some road noise. My brother and SIL had an Epcot view this past August and thought it was beautiful. We were also close to the second elevator and a very short walk to the parking lot, which was also very nice.
