I know the Beach Club and Yacht Club are sister resorts and share SAB. But what are the differences between the two?
Just trying to decide which one to stay at during a trip in early Dec.
Thanks for the input.

We've stayed at both & the YC seemed a lot quieter than the BC. The BC was just busier. The YC hosts many conventions so it seemed like there were less children.

Our DD's were about 14, 11 & 11 at the time & we actually preferred the YC to the BC.

We have only stayed at YC, but while we were there we spent time in the BC Lobby/Store/Gift Shop area as well. From what we observed, we preferred YC. The BC lobby was always swarming with people, which we had enough of in the parks. We felt the YC was a bit more relaxed. We also really liked the YC Galley as a restaurant choice.

We did not notice a huge amount of conventioneers while we were there. A few folks in suits walking through the lobby every once in a while and saw one large group as they left for dinner, but besides that everyone else looked like vacationers.

What they said and the BC is more of a light/pastel/beachy theme while the YC is more hardwoods/navy/nautical/darker in theme :thumbsup2

Also, the YC has more full balconies for their guest rooms while the BC has full balconies for only about 1/2 of their guest rooms and a small standing room only platform as a balcony for the other 1/2.

BC has the Cape May Cafe restaurant off the lobby and the Beach Club Marketplace where you can grab CS and snack offerings. The YC has the Captain's Grille restaurant and Yachtsman Steakhouse but no CS/snack option place except for some breakfast offerings in the Ale & Compass lounge in the morning.

YC is closer to the boardwalk for the ferry to go to Hollywood Studios/Epcot and is also closer to the Swan/Dolphin while the BC is closer to the Boardwalk and the entrance to World Showcase @ Epcot.

That being said, we love them both but have a slight preference for the YC because it is quieter and we just love the ambience:goodvibes

bc lobby is a zoo in the morning becasue of the character breakfast. other than that both resorts are very nice. they have some cosmetic differences, but they are both kid friendly.

We stayed at BC for a week last summer. We loved it!!! The atmosphere and decor is more light and airy. Having the Cape May Cafe right there was wonderful. I never noticed it being a "zoo". The character breakfast was never really crowded any time we were there. I did notice that everyone there was in a good mood and everyone was having a great time and that is why I was there anyway.

The marketplace is a great place to get a snack, such as a sandwich or some gelato. SAB is wonderful. The proximity to EPCOT and the BW was well worth the stay. As they say, location, location, location!!! We had a patio so a balcony was not needed. I could open the sliding glass door to our room and hear the music from EPCOT and be in Epcot in less than 3 minutes!!

It is less than a 5 minute walk to YC if you want to have dinner at YC Galley (now by a different name). That is the only reason we had to go to YC and the darkness of the interior confirmed I had chosen the right resort since we prefer light areas. We rented the mouse boats and took the boat to DHS and it took us about 5 minutes to get to the marina.

BC also has Art. He is the greeter and is the most awesome person!!! I would love to sit down and talk to him for about a week straight. I know he has some great stories to tell. He is in a great mood every time we see him.

I hope you enjoy your stay.

Are these mouse boats people refer to now called sea racer? In the magic your way promotion, there is a voucher for 1 sea racer...

Anyone know details of sea racer voucher on package?

I've been told anyone over 12 years of age can drive it if they have proof of age???

Thanks.

jersey gal,
Yes the "mouse boats" are now called sea racers. My son just drove one (12) in Oct. I don't think we had to show proof of age. An adult had to be with him. (which I was) He loved it. They are a lot of fun!

Beach Club all the way. It is brighter, has very friendly CMs and is much airier (is that a word? LOL) than the YC.

The YC, to me of course, is dark, closed in and has wicked nasty looking carpets. What's up with that? It seems stuffy and not as warm and friendly.

I'm an EPCOT freak, so the BC puts me as close to my favorite park as I can be! :teeth:

I'll always opt for the BC (when I'm not staying at my DVC home of OKW). :teeth:

PP have detailed the differences between the YC and BC very well.
We prefer the BC and we are a party of all adults. We much prefer the lighness of the BC over the dark wood and brass of the YC (which is beautiful mind you, just dark in our opinion).
We find the lobby area "bustling", but not a zoo. I love sitting on the porch in a rocker just taking everything in. I agree that the YC is probably a bit quieter, but this is Disney and everywhere is busy and full of families with children.
The closeness to the International Gateway at Epcot is wonderful!!! We can be in the UK in under 7 minutes. We love Epcot and end most evenings eating in the International restaurants of WS so this location is perfect for us.
If I had the choice I would definitely choose the BC over the YC. On the other hand, if someone offered me a trip to the YC I would be happy as can be.
Both are wonderful.

We have stayed at both and Loved them both. I think I prefer the decor at yc, but love the conveniences at BC. We too, like to end many of our nights at EPCOT, and find the walk to IG soooo convenient, love the view also of EPCOTfrom our mini balcony, and prefer the dining choices of BC. It would be hard to make a bad choice either way.
