DH-44 (20 something trip!)
Me DW-41 (Trip planner!)
Our third day Feb. 10th Saturday. Temp. 84 degrees!
We slept like babies last night! It must have been the cordials and the lovely relaxing time we enjoyed yesterday!
We awoke at 5:30am and my DH got ready to go to the Health Club to do his daily work-out. With the Concierge the health club is included. It was foggy out this morning and it looked kind of pretty so we decided to go see the Gorillas in the Mist! Today was AK day!
After the health club we went to get breakfast at the Concierge Lounge and stock up on some water bottles. We drove to the AK and arrived at 8AM. It was not crowded at all. We made our way to the Safari and saw TONS of animals and with the fog hanging over the landscape it was breath taking! I filmed it with my movie camera and when we got home and showed it to people they really thought we went to Africa, that is how great it came out! The animals were rather frisky that morning and the zebra's were fighting and the giraffe's were running around. It was THE BEST safari yet!
We then went on Dinosaur 2X in a row, it is my DH favorite! Then ITTBAB and the Lion King show. We then had PS for Rainforest for lunch. I had a cpn for 2 free appetizers and $50 worth of Gift certificates to use! We had the awesome appetizer for 2, my DH had a specialty drink, I had the fried catfish and he had the grilled shrimp on a cedar plank. With all our discounts...our bill was $5.00. It was a great meal. We have never had a bad meal there yet! Our server was great and we gave her an extra large tip and she was so thankful she almost started to cry and she said we made her day because she just got hit with an unexpected bill and this would help and she was so thankful! You never know whose life you may touch by being kind to someone!
Anyway we then decided to do some shopping and I found 2 great AK tank tops with gold lame' silk screen on them of different animals in a bright lime green and rasberry sherbet color for $7 each! Yikes! I snatched them up! BTW I found many discounted souvenirs on this trip!
We left the AK by 1PM and back to the BC for a relaxing time at the pool. We then had snacks in the Concierge Lounge and showered and got ready for dinner. We had PS for Narcoossee's at the GF. We had another excellent meal. I had the most wonderful soup and the crab stack appetizer as my dinner and my DH had a shrimp dinner that was incredible. The sauce was so good he wanted to lick the bowl! We then took a stroll around and went to talk to the CM's in the Main Lodge Concierge Lounge but I did not like the open feeling of it. It was very noisy because you are actually open to the lobby and you hear everything. The food and drinks are exactly the same as the BC. They do have more small furniture for little one's but since our little one is 16 now, this isn't a benefit we would be looking for. I am glad we stuck with the BC Concierge and it confirmed our desire to stay where we are for our 2 week trip in Oct. 2001!
We made it back to the BC Concierge for our nightly ritual of Cordials and dessert! We were tired and went back to the room at 10pm to sit on the balcony and watch the people! The temp. at night only went down to 65 degrees so it was very comfortable. Another great day! We also talked about how we were going to do this again next year...come by ourselves in Feb.! YES.....some more planning to do!
