As noted in the 2026 MW thread, riding Everest has become my white whale. I probably could have done it this past weekend, but it would have left little to no margin before the balloon ladies, and I didn't want to get swept simply because of a delay on the ride.

My thought for 2027 is to do only the marathon. This will provide me with fresher legs on Sunday morning, which should give me plenty of time for rides, especially when combined with a POT that should start me further forward in the corrals, plus not stopping for every Star Wars photo...

I've also done the solo thing most race weekends, and that has gotten old, and Monday made it clear that DATW was more fun than a solo day in the parks. So I'd rather cut out park days and enjoy just the running and time with you guys.

Plus this was my [checks notes] 7th rD event, so now I'm looking to do more than just run. (I know, "just" run...).
I don't see myself leading a pace group ("You guys go on ahead, I want to stop for another picture"), so maybe start working with rD itself in some capacity.

Does rD have pace motorcycles for the race leaders? Asking for a friend....

I need to complete a Dopey! I've done the SS challenge and the Princess weekend Challenge. The problem is we are doing NYE in FW this year so I'll already have been on vacation for a week before MW. I am afraid I'll have to punt to 2028 but that one seems like it could be busy(!). I have plans for SS next year (2027) so maybe I'll just FOMO for Dopey one more year and try my best to get in for 2028.

I'll definitely be there for MW next year (shhh, no one tell my family yet!) but not sure what I'll be running. I'm thinking either 10K/Marathon, Goofy or just marathon. I've already started checking prices for renting DVC points

I coming back for Dopey #11. At this point the plan is to keep doing these until the legs truly fall off. I am planning to follow a strength training program this year in preparation of Dopey training to begin in the late summer. I am hopeful that will help to deal with the injury bug that has bit me a little this past year.

And as many have stated I suppose it is all dependent on the registration gods in March. May the odds be ever in our favors!!

For anyone was at DATW this year I stopped one last time to get photos on the way out of Epcot to the airport. And ran into Leo, our photographer in Italy again. Got some more photos and yep he did the whole thing with making sure I was lined up as well.

He did ask about the rest of the group.

I'm looking at my DVC points and trying to figure out our stay. We unfortunately do not have enough points at one resort to not do a split stay unfortunately. So now I'm trying to decide if I do the same as this year - studio at BWV followed by 1 bed at BLT, or upgrade to a 1 bed at BWV for the extra space, or do BLT first and then a 1 bed at BWV starting on Wednesday. I need to decide by Feb 1, when my 11 month window opens.

ANDDDD I just realized I'm going to be on a Disney cruise on the day I need to book my DVC, and in Jamaica for race registration. I'm going to be needing a lot of luck this year...

I really really want to do another Dopey, but I'm not sure how feasible a start-of-year trip is with my new job--health insurance is kind of crazy at the beginning of the year apparently.

Replying to myself to say that I had my monthly 1:1 with my boss today and she expressed no issue with me taking a trip right at the beginning of the year next year! So I'm most likely in for Dopey 2027

Well I didn’t come back sick but I might as well because someone was smoking in the parks. I am allergic to weed and nicotine. I can handle small quick exposures as long as it’s not for long. But the stronger and the longer the exposure the worse it gets. So when I have a reaction courtesy of an elevator someone’s messed up (I wish I was joking).

Completely have lost my voice because of it. (Not unusual for reactions to weed or anything related to it because of the swelling screwing my voice over).

Only saving grace was this was after Dopey not during. Because seriously screw the person who decided to smoke weed in an elevator where other people have to go to get off a ride so much that I had to report to GET that they needed to get a scrubber in there.

On top of this Southwest broke my walker. So I am now getting that replaced as well.

If DS3 ran a 10k this summer for a POT for the HM, would it still be good for MW 2028? We have couple of really inexpensive 10ks within a 90min drive during the summer, but our weather can be all over the place. I have never even been in the ballpark of a POT, so I have not paid any attention to the dates and cutoffs for those.

Yes! I can't find the dates from this year as they've updated the site already but I know my 10 Miler POT from last May would still be good for 2028 before I need a new one - so this year should work fine unless they change the rules.

I would say yes, just checked my upcoming springtime registration and POT was as far back as 1-1-23. From memory in the past it’s always been at least a couple years for a POT window

Good to know. If the weather is good this summer, I'll probably have him run the one that's closest to us because even as a tempo-ish run, he'll easily have a time to get him into A.

Now if only I could convince one of my kids to bib-mule for me for a POT. (KIDDING!)

Probable for 2028. I've already talked to DH about our DVC points, and didn't get told "no." 2027 is all but out. *If* one of us happens to come down, it would likely be just me for a quick solo trip without any of the extra DATW fun.

I've looked at the dates for 2028 and it appears that the marathon will be on my birthday again, so that'll be a good bargaining point as well.

It should be fine. This year's POT started at 1/1/23. Projecting that forward, MW 2028 would start at 1/1/25.

Speaking as someone who has a feeling he’s going to lose his late 2023 POT soon, I think POT range will START in 2024 for 2027, and it’ll likely start in 2025 for the 2028 races.

On that note, I think there’s a chance that POT range extends through this summer for MW, maybe to 9/1? Gave us until 1/1 for Springtime Surprise, which was nice given there are a lot of late fall halfs.

that would probably be a very welcome change from the current July cutoff.
