Can someone help me understand VS / Bonnet Creeks cancelation policy? If I cancel at 10 months out, reservation is for Nov. If I cancel would I get a refund or do the keep it for future reservation?
You may cancel this agreement at any time for any reason.

There will be a $99 non-refundable cancellation fee to all reservations canceled within 60 days prior to check in date. If you must cancel your reservation 20 to 60 days prior to check-in date, you will receive a full refund except your deposit which will be credited in full towards a future rental, minus the $99 non-refundable cancellation fee.

If you have to cancel within 20 days from check-in, we will credit the entire amount towards your future rental, except a $150 non-refundable cancellation fee.

Once your reservation is finalized (within 60 days from check in date), any requests to change name on reservation, length of stay, dates of stay, Villa size etc. will require an additional fee of $99. There is no fee if you are making a change to your current reservation prior to 60 days from check in date.

Im suprised No one knows??? There are 1000 of post on Bonnet Creek.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but if you're asking what happens if you cancel with VS 10 months out, the answer is they keep your deposit and will apply it towards a future reservation through them.

Speculation by posters on the DIS is irrelevant. Call VS and ask them what, if any, consequences would apply. Their interpretation is really the only thing that matters.

Listen to Jim and call them. Although my previous post is based on my experience renting from VS, it's always better to hear it from the horse's mouth.

I can tell you however that those numbers do make some sense.

Wyndham charges owners $99 for a "Guest Certificate" that is required for a non-owner to stay in the unit. since the Guest Certificates aren't transferable between reservations, and the VIP discounts that VS counts on to offer the lower rates don't start kicking in until around the 60 day mark, They are basically covering their costs.... IE... They don't put the reservation in your name until after they rebook at the 60 day mark for the discount, and then if you cancel after that they are recouping the cost of the guest certificate.

Wyndham reservations canceled after the 15day mark result in complete forfeiture of your wyndham points, so things are much tricker there.

Let me know what they tell you. My understanding was they charge $99 only when the res is cancelled WITHIN 60 days before check in and they keep your deposit as a credit towards a future rental. If you cancel before the 60 day mark, you don't pay the $99 but they still keep your deposit as a credit toward future rentals. So if you cancel now, 10 months out, they keep the deposit as a credit. Looks like regardless of when you cancel, they never return the deposit.

I did talk to them this week. They still weren't sure how they were going to handle it. Waiting to see how things go after the 15th but a refund was not out of the question.
