At 65 days until our Disney vacation  I woke up Monday morning in a sheer panic that I wouldn't fit on the rides and be miserable at Disney.. After searching high and low and reading things from others I find my main concern is that people are built different. I am pooh shaped 299 pounds and losing and wear a size 30. My waist is close to being 65 inches as this is where my weight is. I am only 5 foot 2 inches. Most of what I have read is 5' 10 and 300 well if I had 8 more inches things might be different. I am just out of my mind with worry and driving my best friend and fiance crazy :scared1: (both going with me to the world) I need some reassurance. I know I am not the first BBW in Disney but well my emotional self is just needing a bit of that DIS love... Thanks!!!!

Check under Disney World Tips > The Everything Pooh Sized thread. It has wonderful tips and info for all shapes and sizes.

Have a great trip!!!

Try this link for some info (allears.net WDW At Large section).

http://allears.net/tp/ridsiz.htm

I am about as short as you and maybe 50 or so pounds lighter. I had no problems with any rides. I recall feeling squeezed as I went through a turnstile at IASW. My husband is maybe 5'9" and about your weight--most of his weight is carried in a beerbelly (think a very pregnant lady shape) and he also had no problems on any ride. Now I don't think we would have rode Dumbo together, but on our own or with one of our small children, we were fine on everything.

Do NOT panic. You will be fine!!! ;)

I see you have read some threads that say 5'10, not sure which ones you read. But if you read "the everything pooh size" in the Disney tips forum, that has plenty of people of short pooh status in it. :thumbsup2

Also on allears.net there is a "doing disney large" or something like that article that people link. I don't have it, but I am sure someone can link it. That also talks about shorter people.

I am not tall at 5'5 and hold all my weight in my mid section....I can tell you it is FINE. A total apple I am. LOL
I ride everything without problem. The only thing I haven't ridden is Mission Space.

There are a couple tips that will help you.
If there is a lap belt. Make sure to pull it out all the way before latching it.
Also make sure your ride partner is on the side that the belt latches. This way he/she can help you if you need.

If there is a lap bar, cross your legs at the ankles if it is tight. This will drop your legs and therefore the "apple" of your abdomen.

Again you will be fine. But I can tell you this. You really won't believe this until you are there and see for yourself. We can tell you all we want but in the end you will always say "but maybe they aren't as big as I am".
Trust me....you will see bigger people riding and enjoying themselves at Disney.

My nephew is about 5'6-5'7 and WAY over 300 and he rides everything.

Go have fun and try and not worry. YOU WILL BE FINE!!

We both did Disney very "pooh-sized." You will be fine.

Have fun and love every minute!

Calm down- Disney has done a great job in accommodating all shapes & sizes.

You should also be aware that many attractions have test vehicles tucked away that you can discreetly try out before you decide to ride. Just ask a CM at the attraction you're worried about. So if you don't fit, or are uncomfortable in any way, you won't be embarrassed in front of other people.

If there is a lap belt. Make sure to pull it out all the way before latching it.

Pull it out BEFORE sitting down, too. I'm not sure what it is about that action that helps, but it does indeed help.

At the rides, don't get frantic. Yes, be quick about things, but don't be frantic about it. Being frantic will make you have a worse time than if you remain calm. And if you need help, ask.

Have fun!

Thank you all! I really appreciate the input and support. I simply had a huge panic about it and was told post on the DIS cause you guys always are great supporters. :cool1:

I'm a little bit smaller, but not much.

You'll do great! My only issue with Disney is the walking and standing. Try to walk as much as you can before the trip.

I am 5'4". With shoes. The first time DH took me to WDW, I was sitting around 250lbs. I am a RAGING apple shape (think big apple on toothpicks with pretzel stick arms). I had no problem fitting any of the rides. And I can't think of any ride I haven't ridden. Oh, the roller coaster in Dinoland at AK was a little tight, but I managed to ride it just fine. Some of the turnstiles are a little rough, but the rides have been no problem.
Don't worry. You will ride, you will fit, and you will have a great time! I did. :goodvibes

You should be just fine on most of the rides. The only rides that I would be a little concerned about are the ones you step down into (space mountain, splash mountain, EE). If you step down, than you have to be able to step up. This sometimes can be a challenge. Just remember, everyone is different, so don't worry to much, and just have fun.

Myself and a friend who I often go to WDW with are both short and plus sized. I am 5'1" and she is 5'2" so we carry our weight around the middle. In all of my trips to WDW I have never had any problems fitting onto a ride. Disney puts generous seat sizes in their rides. The only ride I wouldn't do again was that carnival style ride in Dinoland that spins around...something whirl. My friend and I both squished onto that ride together. It wasn't painful at all, but we were just feeling very smooshed together, almost like we were hugging. Don't worry, you will be fine.

you really should be fine, and like PP said pull any seat belts out ahead of time before sitting. AND if you got up to a ride and acessed that you prob won't be able to do it,, no worries,, CM are not going to ridicule you if you have to get off. They want you to have a great time pooh size or pint sized!

I have a question! Any pooh-sized people tried the new Star Tours? I haven't yet, and the first time i ever went to DHS, it was down for refurbs, so i haven't even tried the OLD Star Tours. Going with the DBF in September, and i'm about 102% sure that he's going to want to ride it as he's a smidge of a star wars fan (he has "ACTION FIGURES" ;) ) I haven't had any problems on any other rides (TOT... Soarin'... etc etc) but haven't been able to find out any info on the seats in Star Tours  Any help would be appreciated!

i had no problems with the new star tours. just like any ride with a seat belt, pull it out before you sit and you are good to go! :thumbsup2

There are people a lot bigger than you. Most rides would be no problem. I would avoid Space Mountain, yikes. Some rides I am self-conscious about sitting next to a stranger if I think I won't comfortablly fit in the sit space. But if you are riding by a friend or family, don't worry ;) Most of the family rides are bench style :woohoo:
