BBQs

Out of curiosity does anybody know why you can only use the BBQs in the evening and can't use them in the afternoon for lunches?

I didn't know that. I'm curious as well. We have used the BBQ at Saratoga and it was really inconvenient hauling everything down and back.

I have no idea why, but I can only speculate that its a way to make guests purchase the food at Aulani. By limiting the hours the grills are available, perhaps that drives some people to purchase meals onsite.

I don't know but it really is a pain. Other resorts with BBQ's that we have stayed at have them available 24 hours a day. It is so frustrating. Plus having to get the utensils to use every day is a hassle. I think on our next visit I will just use a regular fork from our villa to turn the meat instead of trudging down to pick them up and they have to take them back when I have hot food that I am trying to get back to the villa.

Oh I didn't realize you had to get utensils to use, where to you get them? Yeah a fork will probably work or dollar store tongs.

I bring my utensils from home. I also bring foil. You would be surprised at how many people have asked me "where did you get these?" when they come into the bbq area.

We stay at the Marriott, and I frequently grill for lunch (ours are available all day).

I also bring containers, tongs, Pam spray, and foil from home (as well as seasonings).

I don't understand why Aulani only has a few hours to use them, plus it seems they have few. The Marriott has 3 areas to grill.

I have never had an issue but I assumed they would get busy closer to dinner time so I always went down fairly early-maybe approx 4:45/5:00. Once time it was just me, no one else there at all. I think it depends on the season and crowd level too. Gotta say, the bbqs were VERY clean.
