Anyone have any good recipes to jazz up BBQ hamburgers? Just looking for something a little different!

Thanks :)

My mom would use the liptons onion soup mix kind of gives it a little kick. I hope this helps. Good luck

You could add some chunks of cheese in the middle before forming them. They will melt as you grill them. Or I like to make teriyaki burgers. :thumbsup2

For each 1/4 pound of hamburger, mix with 2 Tbs of blue cheese dressing. Marinate 10 minutes or more. (More is better.) Grill. This is even more fabulous with ground turkey. (Regular ground turkey, not turkey breast.)

Also, take 1/4 lb. ground turkey burger, mix with 2 Tbs of ranch dressing, 1 tsp melted butter & 1 Tbs of grated parmesan cheese and S&P. Marinate 10 minutes or more.

These grill great on the George Forman grill too. They come out as exceptionally juicy, flavorful burgers. Yum! :teeth:

We make them a lot so I tried a mixture of recipes from the net. This one definitely works!! :thumbsup2

2 lbs ground beef (1/2 ground beef and 1/2 ground sirloin)
1 packet Onion Soup Mix
One beaten egg
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup italian bread crumbs finely ground

Grill as usual and top with

Your favorite BBQ sauce mixed with about a cup of coke.

Brush with the sauce when done.

AWESOME BURGERS!!! :worship:

No jazz up for me. I'l take it straight up, medium.

Me too. I had never heard of putting stuff in them until the DIS. I've never seen a restaurant do it either. I'd like it (I like meatloaf, etc.), but my family wouldn't.

I used to make plain burgers, too, until I spoke to a BBQ restaurant chef in Orlando. He gave me a list of things in the BEST burger I ever ate and I realized that the additions made the burger lighter and much more palatable.

Make it even BETTER by combining the sauce and coke and reducing it a little... maybe 25%.... more intense flavor.

Thanks!

My MIL used to make this sauce and I couldn't believe how good it was! I even tried it with Coke Zero and it tasted great!

Now, where was this thread earlier today, before I was in the store looking at the turkey burgers that were on sale? I'll definitely buy them next time!

On beef burgers, we blend in the Lipton onion soup mix or bleu cheese or shredded cheddar and bacon bits and then form the patties. Sometimes, I just coat the burgers with BBQ sauce while they are cooking.

Most of the time, I just sprinkle some Adobo seasoning on them while they are grilling. Adobo makes everything taste better!

Try mixing in taco seasoning in the hamburger before you make it into patties. The powdered ranch dressing mixed in is very good too. I just got a new spice from Penzey's Spices http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penzeys/shophome.html?id=u6bqjyG3 that will make excellent hamburgers too, BBQ 3000. I made some chicken breasts with it tonight and they were yummy.

My DSIL mixes ranch into the meat before grilling and the burgers are wonderful. Even the turkey burgers are good!

Thanks everyone. I can't wait to try all of these! I am going to the grocery store now to pick up some onion soup mix and a coke. :thumbsup2

I've heard of the onion soup mix, but I really prefer my burgers non-gourmet. Just throw that beef on the grill and then add what you like afterwards. A friend of mine likes to put peanut butter on his. As much as I love peanut butter I can't bring myself to try it.
