I have herd about a BBQ at OKW. Where abouts is it located? Do you need to reserve it ahead of time? Or is it first come first serve basis? Do many people use it? I was thinking about a BBQ one night

Also, please verify if it is the Mr. Coffee type filters I need? If I were to buy a package and left it for my next fellow DVC er, would housekeeping remove them or leave them? I use the cone shaped ones at home and not the Mr. Coffee type!

Thanks

Wow, I just re-read my post and there was no pun intended when I used the word "herd" instead of "heard"!!! Sorry all the cow lovers out there!!!!!!

I know there's some by the Turtle Pond pool, if I remember there were three of them, each with a small covered area with a couple of picnic tables, not sure if there are others in the resort. We only used them once, during May 2000 and nobody else was there at the time. It was a nice diversion from eating in the parks or the room. We picked up some self lighting charcoal and made a nice dinner.

Yes, Mr. Coffee type filters. They might leave them in the unit. I once had a roll of Saran wrap someone had left before me.

I recall that there is a grille near all of the neighborhood pools. The one off Miller Road is in the back, near the play area; the ones at Turtle Crawl is in the back and I seem to recall that there was at least one grille at each other pool site. I can't remember if these is one near the large pool and have never seen anyone use them. On vacation, we tend to eat out.

There are grills at the pools with picnic tables next to them, there is very little lighting in that area so if you plan on a BBQ make sure it is before the sun goes down. If you go to a supermarket or the super Walmart you can get those single use bags of charcoal that have the lighter fluid on the coals and you just light the bag at each end.

BBQ grills by all of the quiet pools but I think only the one by the snack bar has covered picnic tables. They are all great. Just no grills by the main pool.

My husband insisted on grilling out on our last trip (last week :)). I was against it at first, but it really worked out well. We bought steaks, hot dogs, green beans and potatos from the Publix. We also bought a small (tiny, really) bag of charcoal which was enough for one dinner. The general store also sells charcoal. My hubby and BIL had a great time drinking beer and grilling steaks and we were able to have a nice family dinner (all 10 of us ). Our 2-way radios kept us in touch ... mostly to send more beer down to the grill ;).
