I’ve tried a Google search with no luck as I’m turning to the Dis!
about 22 years ago my local newspaper had. Food Section every Wednesday. They had a fabulous BBQ beef recipe thst used stew meat, white vinegar, yellow mustard and brown sugar. There were other ingredients but those are what I remember. I’ve misplaced the recipe but want to make it.

does anyone have a recipe using the above ?

What Google search did you do? I typed in all the ingredients you listed and it came up with quite a few results. Any of these the recipe you are looking for?

I was getting the same results. Most of those are for bbq sauces or for a pulled pork/beef. The one I remember was browning stew meat in a Dutch oven, adding onions, vinegar, mustard, brown sugar (a bunch of other things) and eventually transferring to the oven for a few hours

Sounds like you already know how you want to cook it. You just need the right proportions of ingredients. Give the recipes a look again to see it any of them are close to the ingredients and proportions you used to do. Then cook it your way.

Many news papers have ditched their old paper archives and have had their papers scanned and archived. This link will take you to the Providence Journals archives. You can search and see if you find what your looking for. I didn't look in their paywall but most of them require some type of $ or subscription.

I found that independently and man is it expensive. I'm wondering who really pays for that sort of thing unless it's maybe an aggregate subscription for researchers.

@bcla yeah some are insane, they are basically trying to recoup their expense of scanning and hosting. I toured the "vault" at our old paper and it was HUGE with fireproof walls and pretty much the ability to suck the air our as I recall. But they moved and sold that building and no idea what they did with the archives, that's a possible lot of a lot of history if it wasn't digitized.

I only remember browning the stew Meat. And what went into it, but not the “how”

Thanks. I’ll take a look, but it was soo long ago and I’m not sure I’m willing to pay $$$ for a recipe

I thought that a lot of old newspapers were archived to microfilm or microfiche. Some libraries are authorized to archive newspapers to microfilm. The Denver Public Library says that they still catalog the newspaper of record, although it might be interesting trying to track down an article without knowing the exact date.

How small a space? We currently house a complete run of the Rocky Mountain News (1859-2009) and the Denver Post (1894-present) in a series of file cabinets that are just 4 ft 6 inches tall and 12.5 feet long. (And that includes six empty drawers for growth!)
Of course these aren't the only microfilms that are housed at DPL. In the Western History Department you'll find a wide range of historic Colorado newspaper like Cervi's Journal as well as more modern newspapers like Colorado Gambler.

I looked around and apparently there's a way to access it for free with a library card number for the Providence Public Library. This is the same link I had earlier about the microfilm, but they apparently are allowed to give access for their subscription to library cardholders.

I did find this recipe, which uses a lot of the ingredients that you describe. I think there is a typo at the bottom where it says "or white rice." I'm pretty sure it would haves said something like "Serve over noodles or white rice" or something similar.
