I actually had no idea that the whole thing got that expensive. What rubs me a little wrong about the whole concept of spending that much money for a princess makeover is that the whole thing turns out elitist. Little girls whose parents pay for this are to be treated extra special or given lots of extra attention. It basically is a way to separate yourself -that you are a "better parent" for paying this outrageous price for what amounts to be very overpriced dress up.
I think in a nutshell that is what bothers me about the whole thing. We live in an age of us constantly topping ourselves- who can get better stuff for their kid. I think just going to Disney is pretty special- now parents can compete by who can spend more money on their kids while they are there.
It really isn't as bad as you are making it out to be. First off, it is no worse than anything that happens in the real world. In the real world my friends take their kids to a salon for a haircut[ranging $30-60
per haircut], my daughter however goes to the haircuttery[about 415 with tip] or if my good friend has an opening then we go to her salon for free [my favorite of the options]. I don't think anyone claimed to be a better parent for taking their child to BBB. I know I do not think I am better. Blessed maybe for being able to take her, but certainly not better. Better than what anyway? Idk, I just don't live in that sort of mind frame, so I can not grasp what you are saying. I just don't see how going to BBB is any worse than TS ADR's over CS, or picking a mod over a value, etc.... I love my TS, and I love that we are staying at a mod this year.. I by no means think I am a better person than I was last year because of my upgrade. Yes for that amount of money [the $50.00 or $200.00 package] I want my little girl to feel special. I just do not see how that is elitist?? I call every child I see there princess or prince, so maybe I am just in a completely deifferent mind frame than most. I try to make everyone feel special regardless of what they are wearing. Again, I feel blessed, not better
