BBB age limit?

So buy her a ticket and you'll have a ticket to show them.

But if you don't want to purchase her a ticket because she isn't three years old yet. Then she can't do BBB because she isn't three years old yet. You can't get it both ways.

We're going in October from the 17th-24th. My DD turns 3 on the 21st, and I have an appt. at BBB for her for that day. She won't have a ticket to prove her age at BBB. She will go through the ticket gate the next day looking like she went to BBB (aka, is 3 years old), but without a ticket to get into the park because our trip started when she was 2. And all of that should be fine, because that's Disney's own policy. I'm not saying the OP should lie, but it would be very easy to claim these same kind of details if she wanted to make sure it all worked out. We just got really lucky with the way our dates worked! My only concern is that we are paying OOP for CRT the next day, and my understanding from asking on here is that she should be free since dining works like park tickets in that they don't age during the trip-I hope that 's true!

Actually, it will be fine. To do BBB you don't have to be exactly 3 years old. As I stated in the post right above yours, Disney allows a grace period so a child can be almost 3 and still have an appt. at BBB but not require a ticket.

OP, call and ask you will fine! Ignore the naysayers.

Do you have a link to this "grace period" info you speak of? I checked the Official BBB thread and didn't see anything about it, and the Disney site clearly says that you must be 3. :confused3

We asked at DL if my DD could do it, she was 3 weeks shy of being 3 and were told not even if it was her birthday tomorrow, they must be 3-didnt worry us it was the answer we expected (no ticket no BBB) but it doesn't hurt to ask =)

Our girl was 3 weeks short of being 3. We just told them that she was 3 and she had a great time in BBB and loved every second of it. Booked it again for this year.

$50 :confused3, if you buy everything there isn't more like $150? :scared1:

Nope it is more like $200 or more! :scared1: (Gown; makeover, shoes, crown and wand/scepter). Last time we went was in the winter and they had this beautiful little white cape that DD just had to have and was too cute for me to say no to, and I think we wound up spending about $250. :scared1: The cape turned out to be the best part of our purchase though because she could wear it at home with dresses and real clothes, since it wasn't totally costumeish.

I've seen them turn away kids or refuse to make appointments for kids that were 1or 2 weeks shot of their 3rd birthday, so I don't know about this grace period.

When we were there, there was a little girl that clearly looked like she could not have been more than 2. She was apparently well coached if she wasn't 3. We heard CMs ask her for her age 3 times, and each time she said "3", so they let her do it. Just be aware, they won't just ask you her age, they will actually ask the child. Maybe they will let it slide a few days early and maybe they won't. It probably depends on what CMs you happen to get that day.

Having an almost four year old, I still am not going to do BBB. We are hoping to go in November, so I plan on taking all of her princess gowns and she can dress up each day in them. I think doing it on your own and then stopping by to get some pixie dust is the best option.

Now, I'm speaking from someone that plans on going back to WDW several times while DD is young so I'm going to wait to do BBB when she's a few years older. I can understand you dilemma if this is what she is most looking forward to and you do not plan on returning anytime soon.

The age limit is due to the makeup they use. It is not tested on children under 3. Also, if she has very fine hair, I would be concerned that it would put a lot of stress on her hair. The only way you can do BBB is if you lie and say she is 3, but you will also need to coach her to say she is 3 because they will ask her, and likely more than once (at check in and by the FGIT who does the makeover). I would not do it, but only you can decide. Technically, they could ask to see her park ticket, but probably won't.

The makeup thing may be a thing.... but we were told it is because under 3's typically can't sit still.

Last year we went with family friends and her little girl did not turn 3 until the next week. We were honest when booking and it was not an issue. They let us book and not one person asked her how old she was. Worth a try!

My little one had BBB done at about 2 1/2.

If you get her hair done at bbb, wouldn't they give you looks coming through the gates if she didn't have a ticket? (Meaning of course you came back without washing it all out...)

No they don't.

So buy her a ticket and you'll have a ticket to show them.

Simply not true.

Before the bashing begins.... here is my story.

I was there with my 4.5 year old and 2.5 year old and the 4.5 year old was getting her hair and makeup done. My 2.5 year old was just hanging around flirting with the FGIT that had nothing to do because the place was empty. Literally we were the only ones. They asked ME if they could please do her hair and makeup. I told them she would love it but she wasn't even close to three and they said... "As long as you think she will sit still and will enjoy it we can do it".

As usual with Disney I'd say there is no hard and fast rule on this. It can't hurt to ask.

Oh she had no ticket nor did they ask for one.

When was this? They just changed the age limit (added a maximum age), so maybe they weren't enforcing age rules before.

It was just about three years ago.

They had the minimum age in place for sure at that time as I didn't book her an appointment because of it.

I don't think they actually "just" changed the maximum age though. I know I've been reading about that on here for quite some time. Unless they have lowered it from 16.

Yes, the ages are now strictly 3-12 only.

Honestly, if you plan on doing BBB at some point, she is probably the perfect age for it now. Most of the BBB girls you see around the parks and in the BBB are in the 3-5 year old range, but a few are older.

We've done it a few times. DD did it last December when she was 6 (turned 7 in February), and she was definitely the oldest kid in the BBB at the time she did it. Looking around the BBB, it really made me realize how fast she is growing up.

Also, a lot of the girls are over Princesses by around age 6. DD is in 1st grade. She still loves the Princesses, but she has been told by other girls in her class that they are silly; they are for babies; and she shouldn't like them anymore. She has a strong independent personality, so she told those girls that she will like whatever she wants and she likes Princesses. Our niece, who lives in another state, got the same thing when she is in 1st grade. She is a wants to "fit in" and will give in to "peer pressure" to do it kind of kid and she completely gave up the Princesses at age 6.

We did BBB with my DD a few days before she turned three. She turned 3 on the trip. I did tell them when booking that she would be 3. No one asked DD her age or seemed to really care at BBB. I would have done it later in the trip when she was actually 3, but it didn't work out with our schedule and we had a difficult time getting a reservation at BBB. No one asked to see her ticket. Not that it would have mattered because we did BBB at DTD and you don't need a ticket there. I also had no problems going to the MK that night with her dressed as Sleeping Beauty without a ticket.

I don’t know if you have to be super into princesses to do BBB although thankfully I have one of those older girls who still loves the princesses because was had some awesome princess time after her appointment. What she loves most though is being made over and doing that photo session. We didn’t get to WDW until she was 7.5 and didn’t get to do BBB on that trip. She did it the first time at age 9 last summer. I was too focused to notice if she was the oldest.

She didn’t however, wear a princess dress, she wore a pink formal gown and we ate at CRT. She said she wanted to do it again, but wanted something more comfortable to wear and was fine not eating in the castle again (saw the receipt). She loves Shake it Up, so she’s really into tutus and pettiskirts.

I thought about the courtyard package (which I guess it's possible is something they might have come up with to appeal to the 9-12 year-old set) but she was clear that she still wants that bun. I got a pink pettiskirt on ebay, a white denim vest online, and a sparkly white tank top from Wal-Mart. Instead of Disney Princess accessories, I got two charm bracelets, a butterfly ring and a long pink necklace from a store around here that has accessories for $1 or $2.

When I made her "invitation" instead of "Princess transformation" I put in the words "fun makeover". I'll probably be sad when she ages out, but by then my son will probably want to do Pirate's League and she said she'd do that with him.

Ask yourself how would you feel if she cried and screamed because they were pulling her hair or she was afraid or was cranky during the appointment...because this is a 2 year old we are talking about. Can they sit still for 30-60 minutes? Will you be mad that a toddler didn't appreciate all the money you spent? Would you think "What was I thinking?" Yes it would be cute, but if you are ever going back then that would be the time to do it. I would think at that age MAYBE they would want to wear a princess dress.

You're welcome. Another option would be to fix her hair yourself and just stop by the BBB for a sprinkling of pixie dust. They also do younger children's hair at the Harmony Barber Shop.

Agree...Harmony Barber Shop!! they are great and will do the "dusting". You can do the dress and other stuff. My daughter did BBB at 3 1/2 and they used a hair piece because she had barely any hair. It takes a long time too....Try Harmony for this trip....you can make ressies ahead of time also. :flower3:
