Bay Lake Tower refurb dates

I know we aren't supposed to talk about availability, and I hope I am not breaking the rules. I have a stay in a few weeks and have been looking to move from a 1 BR to 2 BR. I've been monitoring daily and it appears a bunch of rooms in both categories are now available. I am wondering if DVC released rooms previously blocked for the refurbishment.

During our stay May 8-12, the North side elevators were completely closed off, and that side looked to stil have the old carpet in the hallways. So they still had a decent amount of work to do at that time. I would be interested in hearing how much they have progressed the last few weeks.

We just got back yesterday from our trip, the North elevators are still closed off. I know for sure they were working on floor 8 and 9 starting with 7823 and rooms farther north. We were in 7827 and it was recently refurbished. 7825 was the last available room before construction.

Personally I'm not a fan of the refurb. We were in a 1 bedroom and the murphy bed and pull down bed is an improvement, but the furniture in the room is terribly uncomfortable. The chairs look pretty but are miserable to sit in.

Under the new refurbishment, does a 1 bed villa still fit 5 adults? Disney's website claims that it does, but I believe the sleeper chair is being removed in the refurb and there's now the pull down "twin" (except as we know, more child-sized) bed from the panel. I would assume with the new configuration only 4 adults would sleep comfortably.

Just stayed there. Here's what the twin looks like. Seems narrow.

If you request North side even numbered rooms, you'll face the lake but look to your left is MK and you will still be able to see fireworks, just not straight on. Room # ends in 06 and 08 are closer to the MK view, definitely not bad. The furthest one should be room # ending in 14. That's further into the lake view, away from MK.
Thank you so much for this! So I will be putting in my request this weekend. Does "north side, even number, high floor" sound good to get the best view and a refurbed room or am I asking too much. :)

You'll definitely need to tell Disney what your priority order is for your multiple requests. And if you get all of them, that's amazing!

We were in a refurbed 1-BR for one night, then a non-refurbed 2-BR for the rest of our stay. We didn't sit in the new chairs for a long period of time to notice. The biggest difference we noticed was the carpet in the old models were really worn. Even though they were clean when we checked in, they had a grimey feel to them when compared to the laminate in the reburbed villas. The newer showers were nicer too.
