Bay Lake Tower refurb dates

I've never really read into refurbs in action, cause I was never at a resort at that time. This year I will be. Do they do a wing at a time, a section? Start at the top, come down floor by floor? Anybody want to throw out a guess?

They need it! we were just there August 27-30. It was rough trying for a virtual queue since there was also minimal cellular service where we were.

We were in a 2br in December. The rooms were definitely a bit worn and in need of a little TLC. My concern is that they will do another lifeless, bland beige make over like has happened on other recent makeovers. I have seen pictures of the BWV updates and what a disappointment. We are going there in May so I will see for myself, I suppose.

I have a trip scheduled for the end of January, so a refurbished room is certainly going to be a hit or miss situation. But if anyone hears a hammer hitting a wall or sees new appliances to be installed, please send a heads up.

Same! We’ll be there in a 2Bed TPV mid January. Really want to know if any information can be provided if the construction has even started yet.

I’m not sure if it’s started yet, but I’ve heard reports of someone who has been moved from BLT to BWV for a December res… I don’t know for sure that this is due to the refurb, but would assume so.

I'm looking at booking a 3bd in March. That'll be about half way through the refurb (hopefully lol).

I can't remember ... how many GVs are there at BLT? Are they usually refurbed first or last? I'm asking because what I want to avoid is getting bumped more than anything. The recent BWV refurb bumping has me nervous. I'd be ok in an old or new room, although new would obviously be great.

There's 8 Lake View Grand Villas and 6 Theme Park view. I had read a rumor somewhere that they were going to start on the top floors and work their way down one floor at a time. That doesn't mean they are doing that. So far I haven't actually seen any reports of the work starting.

I have to shake my head, though - they’ll be missing more “swimmable” weather during the closure than if they had waited until January to close. Oh well.

Yes. They left voice mail in the room the day before. Said 11AM-2PM, but was done sooner.

Maybe they don’t want this pool closure to overlap with or be close to SAB’s closure? That’s affecting Spring, right?

Contemporary pools, they have 2, are very close by.....I would love for them to redo the snack bar and turn it into a "tiki bar" with seating and TV's

The 3br's at BLT are the best set up because of the 2 stories and 2nd living room for the kids to hang in......

I wish they would be more transparent with start dates, refurb schedules, concept art, etc.........

We will be booking a 3br as soon as it is done

Dumb question, the “Bay Lake Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort” is usually the name used for CR’s circle pool / leisure pool (the one out on Bay Lake by the boat dock). The BLT pool is usually called the “Bay Cove Pool.” I see that closure note referencing “Bay Lake Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort” on the DVC website and on the Villa BLT page, but it’s not on the CR page.

Is it confirmed that this is in fact a BLT pool closure?

Funny because i noticed the same thing but i just assumed they named the wrong pool since BLT is beginning its refurb and then this picture has Bay COve pool in it.......

I think the Bay Cove Pool (BLT pool) photo is there because it’s the BLT webpage. I also believe the closure is of the Bay Lake Pool at the CR, not the Bay Cove Pool. The notice might be on the DVC BLT page because BLT guests are allowed to swim at both CR pools (but CR guests aren’t allowed at the BLT Bay Cove Pool).
