*** Bay Lake Tower Owners Group***

They are still closed - and it does affect your stay I have been stuck waiting 2 elevators at busy times. I am enjoying BLT more than I ever thought I would but I will have to try it with a 1Br and working elevators on both sides to judge.
We go in November. Sure hope they are open!

In your 2nd picture, where the small pool is outside, wasn’t the guest service desk where the furniture is? The two smaller desks on either side are bell services and concierge.
Sorry, this is my first time at BLT, if there was a big desk there, it’s gone now. They are checking people in at what you described as the concierge’s desk. Bell services is still at the other little desk. They are mostly walking around with iPads. It doesn’t surprise me as isn’t this what they did at Polynesian tower.

Thanks for the explanation and hope you’re enjoying BLT notwithstanding the elevator situation.

I had very modest expectations, it was probably the last resort I would’ve tried, it was only because of the last-minute trip and that member services was able to grab me a room.

I will say the place looks brand new, including the room. They’re doing the outside elements right now like the fountain behind the lobby. Everything I thought I would not like about it ended up being a non-issue such as having everything in contemporary. Even the elevators are only bad in the morning and when the fireworks are done.

I don’t see the objections to the pool, I tried out all three.

My BLT contracts are getting replaced by Polynesian but having extensively pored over the point charts...I believe I'll end up staying at BLT way more often than Polynesian. I will just probably have to settle for a nicer view (which sounds very nice!). Love the new lobby, too! 😍
So why the switch if you'll stay at BLT more?

I realized I had a few too many points to begin with. When I purchased, I bought with my most expensive year in mind, but it turns out the 2 bedroom isn't necessary every year for us, and there may be years we need to take off occasionally. So one of my contracts (not BCV) was probably getting sold regardless, especially with a supposed renting crackdown that would make having too many points a liability. I also have been interested in a blue card for Sorcerer's pass access.

Talked to a guide. They put points in your account right away. A benefit to having a direct or grandfathered contract is ability to see restricted resort availability (which I previously couldn't see). VDH seems to have much better availability than Grand Californian. I suspect we actually will be able to stay there, unlike Grand Californian. Since I have very fond memories of my first ever Disney trip, staying at the Disneyland Hotel in the 1990s, I am excited to go stay at VDH now and then with some eligible points.

So, 2 main things: Sorcerer's pass, and restricted resort options (but specifically VDH).

I'm within my ten day window though: go ahead and talk me out of it! lol. I think Polynesian and BLT will continue to have decent availability overall, so you could probably load up on SSR and stay at either most of the year.

Gotcha. I have BLT direct, but if I didn't I might have done something like what you are doing. You're right that you can stay at BLT, at least lake view, at 7 months. 1BRs linger for a while especially. So makes sense.

I like the Poly, too, they're all good!

ETA: during my first DL trip we also stayed at DL Hotel. Love it for some of the same reasons I love the Contemporary.

Curious why your switching resorts?

Edit: Sorry, it looks like you already answered.

We did something similar. We bought 125 resale points at BLT. I quickly realized that I should have bought a few more. When VGF went back up in 2022, we took advantage of the promo and bought 150 points direct. Ended up selling the BLT contract for more than we paid for it plus got two trips out of it. We wanted direct for the ability to stay at all current and future resorts.

Our college age son is arriving at BLT at about midnight and we will still be at the parks (or not back at room yet). Can he check in at BLT? Or does he go to the contemporary to check in?

If you’re already checked in, he should be able to use his phone or magic band to get into room.
