My husband wants a verticle grip for Christmas. We have a pretty new Canon Digital Rebel XT. What would be the best, are they all the same, prices vary allot, help!!

Thanks, Lori

The canon grip is about $136 and the Targus is $89 that was at adorama. I imagine they would both work fine.

But my personal preference is always to go with the OEM version. To me it would be worth the extra money to have the canon brand. But that is just my personal preference.

Having said that, I have neither, so I don't know how either preforms.

Good luck in your serch.

If you'd like another option, I can highly recommend the Opteka grip. At $69.95 it's the least expensive option, and it just so happens that it is made by the same manufacturer as the Canon OEM model. I've had mine for a little over a year and have had absolutely no issues.

Here is a comparison between the models:
Canon BG-E3 and Opteka BP-XT Battery Grip Comparison

So if you're hung up on the name, go for the Canon. If you'd like to save yourself around $65 go for the Opteka.

If I were to buy one for myself it would be the Canon. But I have heard nothing but good things about the Opteka grip.

It looks like you pay for them to put Canon on it, but for some reason I keep telling myself it's worth it :confused3
