Bats in my attic!

I have lived in my house for almost 30 years and I have had bats get in 3 times. Once in the attic and for some reason two other times in my bedroom. I used to have a bedroom on the 2nd floor then when I got sick I moved to the 1st floor. The bats always seemed to find me. Never in the other 4 bedrooms in this house, only mine. Guess they like all the Mickey stuff I have all over the walls.
I had teen sons then and they got their fishing nets and caught the bats and let them go outside.

I really would be sleeping in my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

My mom and step dad had bats in their house several years ago and had to get rabies shots. Three years ago there was one in our kitchen hanging under the cabinet:scared1: how it got there I will never know. DH caught it in a towel and put it outside. Next day I called CDC and they told me that because we had no idea how long the bat had been in the house we all had to get rabies shots. :scared1: It seems that they carry rabies and you can get the disease from their saliva even if they don't bite you. I was also told that these bats leave such a small bite it will go undeteced and you won't feel anything when they bite either. If I were you I would call your doctor and telll them the story and see if he thinks your family should have the rabies shots. They are expensive and extremely painful not to mention the fact that they made me very sick but I would rather go through all that un-neccessarily and be safe than die from rabies. Since they are in the attic and haven't found a way into the house all may be well but it's not something I would play around with. Hope this helped some.

i think that bats in the attic are much worse than barking spiders in the basement.
i hope that they don't make you sick! :cutie:
scary stuff i have read on this thread.
