So, I've never seen this mentioned online, and my friends think I'm nuts for noticing, but, I'm really surprised by the bathrooms in the parks. Don't get me wrong, they are clean and function as they are supposed to, but I am surprised by their blandness. For all of the money, time and creativity that goes into the theming of every aspect in the parks, I'm surprised that the bathrooms look like middle school boys rooms.

I know that no one wants to spend too much time in there, and Disney doesn't want people loitering and extending waits, but, some theming would be nice. Continue a color palate or font somehow, something simple. I'm not talking about thrones for toilets or anything.

We're all going to spend some time in the bathrooms every day, a little fairy dust (don't read anything into that, no pun intendend) wouldn't hurt.

Thoughts?

The newer ones are kinda like that, like the Rapunzel area ones have the color scheme and such. They are not fancy though.

I think when they were first built the Epcot ones were kinda futuristic. They just don't seem that way anymore. Neither does Future World in general, so, I guess that makes sense.

Also, they don't have mirrors above the sink for what I assume is the same reason - so people don't loiter. The only mirrors I've ever found are usually in an out-of-the-way corner.

The original Harry Potter world at Universal has one where the "ghost" will talk to you in the men's room. I guess it's something from the stories, which I don't know much about. What I can say is that the ghost is breaking a cardinal rule of Men's room etiquette! That's theming gone awry.

It's Moaning Myrtle, and she doesn't talk TO anyone. She just talks. And it's in both of the bathrooms in that area, not just the men's room.

It's not too late to read the books!

I love that they do that. It's so frustrating to me to wait in a long line of women to wash my hands because someone is busy reapplying a full face of makeup at the sink/mirror!

I agree! I always like to check my face/chest area to make sure I'm not burning anywhere but I like that it's out of the way because I hate holding people up, and likewise I hate getting stuck behind those not actually using the sink. If I remember right, our Phillies ballpark does the same thing with the mirrors as well. I live only a few blocks away so I'm not in their bathrooms as frequently as those at Disney haha but I love it!

This. I'm pretty sure there are Frying Pans hanging on the wall in the Rapunzel's Tower Men's room.

But - it you notice at Disney World, there are very few bathrooms on either side that have mirrors over the sinks. That's another way Disney cuts down on lines. If you want to adjust your makeup or do a full comb over, you have to move out of the sink area to do that. People are free to come out of stalls and go directly to the sinks without having to view which ones have someone standing just looking into a mirror.

As for me - I go to the bathroom for one reason and one reason only and when I'm done, I'm outta there. Disney or not, who wants to linger in a bathroom?

Amongst other reasons, the simplistic design makes cleaning and sanitizing them faster, easier, cheaper and overall more effective.

This was my first thought. Adding extra decor, statues, whatever means more things to keep clean. Not really worth it for a bathroom when most people are trying to just get in and out as quickly as they can.
