Do YOU suffer from bathing suit anxiety? I know I'm not the only one.

I finally broke down and bought a new swimsuit yesterday. Macy's was having a good sale so I decided to take the plunge. They have *tons* - I was pleasantly surprised by the selection.

What I wasn't pleasantly surprised about were the prices :crazy2: and the fits. :headache: I had to buy a suit TWO FULL SIZES up from my normal clothing size! Seemed no matter what brand I tried on, the sizing was just off. Either the bust didn't fit or it was ... ahem ... too short in the crotch. :scared: From the $40 to the $150 ones, they all were pretty much ill-fitting.

There was no getting around buying one. I've lost a ton of weight since I bought my last one, so this was totally necessary or I wouldn't have been doing it.

I finally settled on a cute black & white swim-dress style and bought a sarong to cover up my problem thighs. :sad2: The Miracle Suits were just too expensive, and to be quite honest it didn't seem like they did much more for me than what I bought at a much lower price point.

two words.............Lands End

they fit and they last. but they are pricey unless on sale

I just bought a new swimsuit last night from Lands End but I don't have bathing suit anxiety. I just don't care...and I'm no swimsuit model either.

I don't have body issues, but no matter how good of a mood I'm in or how good I think I look, that all goes right out the window when I try on a swimsuit. I swear it's the horrifyingly unflattering lighting and mirrors in the dressing room. I never feel ugly at home like I do in a fitting room.

I also find that I need to go a size up in swim suits. Where the heck is the vanity sizing in something so daunting to buy :rotfl:?!?

I wanted a suit with a little skirt and was having problems finding one. I finally found one at Marshall's for only $25! I was very happy!

I love my swimsuit!

I got it a few years ago at JCPenney.

It is a 2 piece tankini with boy-cut bottoms.

Fits very well and I am comfortable in it!

I also have a "backup" swimsuit - board shorts and a halter tankini top. This one I like *almost* as much as my first swimsuit.

Ha!

The last time I saw my doctor, she recommended switching to swimming for exercise and weight loss because of my bad knees. Apparently I looked at her in total horror because she burst out laughing and said, "Scared of the fitting room, are we?"

I just ordered two suits from Lands End. They are the best fitting suits I have ever owned. They were not cheap but they were worth it.

My last two suits came from Land's End. I like them except for the fact that they take forever to dry. Good quality fabrics. I also have to go up a size in them. And they are always having sales, so I usually get a pretty good deal.

I just ordered two suits from Kohls that should come today. I'm hoping that they'll fit and look halfway decent. I tried looking at shapes that I know flatter me and ones that had quick drying material. We'll see.

I have noticed on many of the "junior" style suits there is very little :laughing: coverage! :scared1:

I used to wear only Lands End suits but lately their clothing doesn't seem to fit me right. Even if I go up sizes.

I have one shoulder lower than the other so want a suit with crossed straps in the back. Very difficult to find but I got one at Target.

I hate trying on bathing suits and am sad when one I like finally gives it up and the elastic goes.:)

I hate shopping from bathing suits! Being a DD makes it hard for me. The last time I bought one that I liked was 3 summers ago, a Ralph Lauren black one piece halter top suit with zebra print on the top half. But, the fabric is starting to get pretty thin. I hope it lasts me the summer!

If you think it's hard being a DD ... try being a DDD ... and a size 14. :sad2: Now when I wore a size 24 bathing suit (the last one I bought), this wasn't such a problem. Now though, finding one that fits on the bottom AND on the top is a time-consuming, frustrating process.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I lost the weight. I just wish I would have shrunk everywhere equally! Would have made things a whole lot simpler.

This is why I love mine.

I am a 6 on bottoms and an 8 on top. My suit matches perfectly, because I am able to buy the same design for both top and bottom.

Here too! Hips are my main problem... Luckily I found a really cute suit from Dillards that fits me to a "t"... So excited to have it! :)

I hear ya! If they are going to do vanity sizing anywhere it should be bathing suits.

1. I have a great joke/story about trying on bathing suits if anyone wants it. don't want to steal the tread!

2. Excercising in the water is the best thing for you. There is 14% more resistance on your muscles, and that is just strolling through the shallow water. I work/teach classes at a local Y. They say it is fine to wear a top & shorts as long as there are no brads or strings. support of chest is a good idea though!! You can hang on the wall and just walk.

3. Swimsuits for all dot com has suits from size 8 - size 34w & underwire support suits from D - F.

4. Just remember, there is always someone who feels the same way you do at a pool or in a swimsuit. and it may be that one in the teeny weeny bikini. Be happy with yourself & what you set out to do, and it will be fine!

I have a pair of quick silver boy shorts, a tankini top (Disney one), and a quick dri shirt with sleeves.

The shorts I've had for several years now, and they still look good after years of use. I wear the shirt to keep my shoulders from burning, and the tankini top to work as a bra. No showing off anything I don't want to, and no trying on bathing suits.
