Bat Mitzvah gift?

My DH and I were invited to my good friend's daughter's bat mitzvah. We are not Jewish and have never been to a bat mitzvah. What is an appropriate gift? I understand money is what's expected, so how much do you normally give for a friend's child?

I would give $50 for a friend and if it was family I would give $100

A good guideline is to give some multiplier of chai (18). This is good luck.

So you can give $54 or $72. If this is a close friend and you want to give more, then up the number.

lol I would find it odd if I got $54 in a card I didn't know that means good luck. See you do learn something new everyday
