Basking in the Glow of the (not so) Creepy Clown -2/11-Pictures, Final Thoughts, PTR!

Hi Brook! Wow, when you said you had some updates you weren't kidding!! I loved it!
I'm glad to see that Ground Zero is changing... it is a hard place to be... so glad there will be a wonderful memorial to those who perished there. My DH was there a month after the towers collapsed and it was very difficult and moving. :sad1:
I LOVE the photo of Henry by the castle at night! What a cute picture! :goodvibes
Are you doing a PTR for your next trip? Seems like you aren't but let me know if I have missed it.
Hope you had a magical Christmas!

I haven't been on DIS for 6 months and now that i'm back, i'm so glad your TR was the first thing I read!!! Your pics are wonderful!

So sad about Henry shrinking! I would hate to explain to Carter why he couldn't ride something he had already gotten to ride. I was glad you decided not to ride without him.

Great updates!

Whew, that was a lot of updates. I love Henry's hat he wore to the train display. He looks like a little gentleman. I love all of the original Pooh animals. You could tell they were really well loved. I too would have had a melt down with all that trekking around you did and then with the incident at the gift shop would have just put me over the edge. I can't remember what else I was going to say. I should have taken notes while I was reading. haha

Brook, I have to ask you what kind of camera you have? Your shots are awesome, especially the ones of Wishes. Did you use a tripod? I'm so excited to capture pics of Wishes for our upcoming trip but I'm kind of nervous at the same time that they'll come out crappy as usual! I do have a new camera, a dslr finally! Hopefully that will make a difference.

I can kind of help you and give an answer. I know she has a Canon Rebel...I "think" it's the xs model.

I don't think Brook uses a tripod, but I could be wrong.

Thanks Jen!:goodvibes Darn, I was hoping she had a Pentax since that's the new camera I have! Her pics are really good!:thumbsup2

Happy New Year!

I plan on having a rockin' NYE with a 5 year old, 4 yo, 3 yo and 2 yo! Nachos, cupcakes and Despicable Me. WOO-HOO!:cool1:

Happy New Year, Brook!

I'm finally caught up on the gazillion updates you've made in the past month! :thumbsup2 Yes, DH and I are sitting here on New Years Eve playing with our Christmas presents -- iPads! -- because after traveling for a week, sitting on the couch on the Internet feels like the greatest luxury ever! :)

Just a few comments (gotta prove that I really read it all, right? ;)):

-so happy Henry loved Test Track!
-can't believe poor Joe rode Imagination twice! That ride just makes me sad compared to how it used to be. But I suppose it's probably better with a little one.
-sticky toffee pudding from Rose & Crown...drool
-I'm so impressed you made it for nine hours in Epcot with a 3-year-old. That is truly impressive!
-"pros on puke" :rotfl: Truly something for the resume! :goodvibes
-I am so happy to finally know where to get an "I [Mickey ears ] NY" shirt! I looked all over WDW for one in October, no luck...it's so good to know it's just a subway trip away!

Anyway, I loved your updates! Hope you're having an excellent New Year's Eve; see you next year!

Happy New Year, Brook~~Joe~~Henry!! You made a good decision to stay home instead of all that NYC Times Square craziness:thumbsup2 Here's hoping for a Blessed 2011 for your family:goodvibes

Happy New Year!!!

This evening Joe, Henry and I adventured into Manhattan for some dinner. We got out of the subway on 59th Street and there were people already lined up for the big New Year's bash....59th Street is 17 blocks away from where the ball drops!

Sorry, i only snapped one pic - I was trying to dodge people and giant puddles of slush! (of which I was unsuccessful and have ruined a pair of shoes and had freezing wet feet all the way home. :sad2:) The glowing blob in the picture is Times Square.

On the way home they had closed access to our subway station so we had to hike it over to a different one. I am so very happy to be home, warm and cozy in my bed, I'll watch the countdown online!

On the train ride home Henry asked why there were police cars and so many people, so I explained it all to him the best I could. When we got home we did our own little countdown:

Henry's New Year's Countdown

He really enjoyed the freedom of standing on the couch AND pushing over a big stack of pillows! ;)

And in case you don't know about this already, here, http://www.**********.com/forum/live-video.php is a link to a live webcam feed of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. You might have to click around a bit to find the actual feed, but it's there! It's being broadcast by a lovely family, Dave, Kathy and their daughter, who get a room every year at the Poly overlooking the Magic Kingdom. We crashed their lawn last year (after asking permission!) and had our NYE DISmeet right next to this very webcam. The entertainment last year was unforgettable with MeMom's Trent and Jarvis dancing and singing boy-band songs...we'll see what turns up this year!

ETA: Appears the link is being blocked by the DIS for one reason or another. Sorry folks, I don't want to try to give it and side-step the DIS...I don't want to get in trouble here! :)

I hope you all have a fun and safe holiday!!!

Hi Brook, I "see" you over there. I am glad that I am on central time as I don't know if I will make it to midnight here at home. :goodvibes

Brook, so many things I want to comment on, but so little time, so I will only touch upon the most important ones:

First of all: Merry Christmas to you, Joe and Henry!!:santa:

Your Christmas post was wonderful and I agree with you - I would have never thought that I would meet so many wonderful people here on the DIS and the amazing thing is that I get to meet so many even here in Germany! :goodvibes I hope one day I will get to show you around Nuremberg as well!

I am glad that your parcel arrived in time - as Katharina mentioned, we had fun surprising you with the gingerbread just as you surprised us with the wonderful coconut Mickey heads! :goodvibes

I loved all of your NYC pictures, your post about the World Financial Center reminded me of a wonderful documentary I once saw about kids taking part in a ballroom dance competition. It is called "Mad Hot Ballroom" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438205/) and it is a very sweet film. I can highly recommend it - and it ends with the final competition under the palm trees you took pictures of.

I have seen that documentary! I completely forgot that the final competition in that movie was there. I think I'm gonna have to re-watch it, thank you for reminding me of it. ::yes:: GREAT film.

Brooke -

Thank you for your very touching Merry Christmas Wishes. This is truly the season for reflection and its so important to stop the frantic rushing in order to do that. Very well said.

Now - getting back to your updates.

AMAZING!

I loved the museum pictures of eeyore and the gang. I loved seeing Ground Zero since I really am fascinated by the events of 911.

I loved the Disney store. You mean there are people who don't like that store?????? :confused3 It looks incredible. Merchandising at its best, if you ask me.

And your TR - well, I think you had a stellar day - the pool, lunch, a mega nap, and then MK. What could be better? Loved the pictures of the parade. Really pretty. I didn't see the parade in September, so its great to see the pictures. Thanks.

Merry Christmas :santa:to you and the boys!

ps - stop by my TR when you get a chance. Click on one of the links on the first page to find a link to Flat Mickey. I think Henry would love him, so I hope you can make your own on your upcoming trip!

I will have to remember to take our SLR down to Ground Zero and snap a bunch of pics for you next time, it really is all very interesting and fascinating. I once knew a waiter at a restaurant that I used to frequent (it no longer exists) and he worked in a gift shop on the ground floor of the World Trade Center (not sure which tower). He once explained to me the horrific events of that day from his point of view. I was bawling into my cheeseburger. It's unreal. I am so happy to see the rebuilding, it's like a new life.

I did see your Flat Mickey-so cute! Henry would LOVE that! He's very into art lately too. I can't believe no one was using the stencil! I hope I remember to check it out next time we are there, thank you for the tip!

Brook!!! First of all Merry Christmas to you Joe and Henry!! I hope you guys have a great holiday season!!!

What a great slew of updates LOL!! Loved being able to spend my morning relaxing and reading your report!! What a great way to start my day!!!!!

Henry is just adorable and that picture of the Donald hat on his head...glad I didn't have anything to drink in my mouth...too funny and too cute!!!

YAY for a great night at MK!!!

Isn't that picture hilarious? He loves to put on hats - and Disney has the best ones. :rotfl:

Your pics of the parade and Wishes are amazing! What camera setting did you use?

I feel like you were reaching out to me when you gave your Christmas blessing. We had a major tragedy in our family this fall, and it has been very difficult to go on as usual.

Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

For parade and fireworks pictures we usually turn the ISO way up and open the aperture as much as we can - then allow the camera to set the time. We get a ton of blurry ones, but a few goodies too. :goodvibes Joe has a steadier hand than I do, so I think next trip he'll be on camera duty during the shows!

I hope you had a good Christmas.

Brook! What a batch of updates! So many things to comment on...

Those NY t-shirts with the Mickey heads are adorable as is the picture of you as the Statue of Liberty!

What a nice relaxing day swimming! Henry's grilled cheese sandwich looks delicious! I don't blame you for skipping the tea (I remember crying Henry, too! LOL!) and letting Henry sleep. From all the fun you had later in the night, it was a good call.

Love the picture of Henry in front of the train station. Just precious!

Hurray for all the pixie dust for Henry: chocolates at the Boardwalk, ringing the bell, and getting a pin! :thumbsup2

I like the Tiki Room, too! Those singing Tiki statues are my favorite. :lmao:

Yeay for seeing the MSEP! Your pictures and video are fabulous! :lovestruc

Ending the night with Wishes and popcorn was just perfect!

Merry Christmas to you, Joe, and Henry! May you have a wonderful holiday!

It was a very good move to skip the tea! Though, I am STILL craving their strawberries with cream and the scone with Devonshire cream. :cloud9: I will go back someday, I WILL. Perhaps next trip. :scratchin

Great update Brooke!

Merry Christmas to you too. I hope you, Joe and Henry have a wonderful holiday.

Thank you!!! We did! I can't believe I haven't posted here yet about our Christmas - it wasn't too exciting, but I have a few pics at least to share! I hope you had a great holiday as well!

Happy New Year Brook, Joe & Henry.

Very cute video of Henry & the countdown.

You braved going out into the city tonight???:scared1:
