Just wondering if anyone has any experiance with this. A few weeks ao I had a small mark on my arm biopsied. The dermatolagist called today and said it is basil cell carsinoma. :sad2: She was'nt to concerned, said I needed to have a bigger piece taken out and that it should be fine. Still a little scary..any info or experiances would be great,,,,

I had a small lesion on my face a few years ago. My Dr. burned it off with some sort of electrical zapping thing. After a few whiffs of burning flesh, I was fine. No recurrence. No after effects.

My grandpa has had quite a few of those from long years in the sun. They were removed and he is fine and in his 70s. My MIL had a Melanoma and those are the ones you need to be real concerned about. They took a huge chunk out of her back for that and she has to go get checked head to toe every six months, it was and still is very scarey.

Best of luck to you but I think you will be fine.

Hugs!! I've had Melanoma, Squamous, and Basal cell. They just need to get the margins to make sure the cancer has not spread. You will be fine!! Just make sure you follow up with your 6 month check ups after this. Skin checks are so very important. Since you have been dx, please make sure any siblings or children are going for their skin checks. Unfortunately, skin cancer tends to run in families.

I was also diagnosed last year with Basal cell carcinoma on my right temple. The specialist burned it off (stinky :p ) and tomorrow I will be going to him for a complete skin check-up.

I was told it wasn't anything to be overly concerned about as the sun damage had been done many, many (I'm 51) years ago when I was a little girl and we didn't have the knowledge about the sun like we do now.He also told me this cancer could come back in the same area and it will usually come back on the "edges" of where I had it previously. Stay calm and just keep an eye out for anything abnormal on your skin. :)

I am going through something similar. Had mole removed, biopsied, and received call from doctor stating they found trace of melanoma. Had to get deeper insison and trip to plastic surgon to have scar minimized.

I had basil cell carcinoma in the corner of my right eye, right by my nose. It was removed approximately 2 years ago and, knock on wood, I have had no further problems.
