Hi all! I am wanting to prepay my tips and I just want to confirm that the current tipping is $13.50 PP per night (not day). Can anyone confirm or correct? TIA!

Thank you. People generally say per person per day however I remembered it as actually per person per night. I just wanted to make sure I am prepaying the correct amount. I tried to do a search but all the terms I tried were common enough that I was getting a ton of nonrelevant results.

Technically it should be the same whether it is per day or per night, but, DCL does have a tendency to say that a 7 night cruise is "8 days, 7 nights" - I personally think that disembarking day is not a "day" of the cruise, but anyway, just my opinion. Industry standard is certainly to refer to cruises by number of nights, not days, I suppose to be super clear. Great question to ask!

All the cruise lines do this.

All the cruise lines do this.

Many do, I'm sure! But I have a cruise booked with NCL next year, it's 11 nights (embark on a Sunday, disembark on the Thursday in the next week), and is marketed as an "11 day cruise". And my 3 night Princess cruise was just sold as a 3 night cruise.

Is the calculator correct? Or the above image? When doing the math for each I came up with seperate numbers one was 190 the other 255

I just ran the numbers using the calculator and it seems to be working properly. How many nights and how many passengers were you calculating for?

I ran 7 nights for 2 passengers and got $189, which is correct. Not sure why it was giving you 255.

Actually, it was when I added up the totals from the pic above that I got 255... and the most logical answer is my mathematical dyslexia strikes again. Thank you for double checking that for me, I was actually just putting tips into my budget when all of this came up.

Yes, you are correct. We like to pre-pay the gratuities before our cruise, & then we tip additional in cash throughout the cruise; as well as at the end of the stay.

I always prepay the tips and then I carry cash and put extra in the envelope on the last day. I know they push the excellence speech, but I I've always had excellent service on each cruise, with each server doing way more than was expected or necessary.
