Basic question about modifying reservations

If I book a week at a deluxe resort, and decide that we need to change to a value, we have to notify Disney 45 days ahead of time, right? And if we do that will we incur a fee? How much will the fee be?

think would start with a value resort - then upgrade - since you can (I think) upgrade with no added fee.

If you book a package, any changes made 45 days or more prior to arrival can be done free of charge. If any changes are made after the 45 day mark, you could incur a $50 change fee. If any changes result in a price increase, Disney usually waives the fee. If you book RO, changes can be made 5 or more days prior to arrival without a fee. With all of that said, final payment for packages has changed for 2016 and is now 30 days prior to arrival (which is also when you can make changes without a fee).
