If I have a basic ticket for 8 days can I use two parks on the same day? Go to MK in am and HS in pm? I would use 2 days.

Not unless they're Park Hoppers. Basic tix are good for one park per day.

.

no you cannot do that with the base ticket.
disney knows that that would be cheaper than adding park hopper so they will not allow it.
when you try going to the second park the computer system will recognize that you only have a base ticket and that you already entered a park that day and it will deny you entry.

Like LegoMom3 said, no. Base tickets are only good one one admission per day. You cannot use two days from a multiple day ticket on the same day. You would have to upgrade to the Park Hopper option to visit more than one park in a day, then it will only use one days entry no matter how many times you enter a park. Adding the Park Hopper option gives you multiple entries for all of the days on that ticket, so if you want to visit more than one park per day on your trip, upgrade early and you will have the benefit for you whole trip. The cost of upgrading to a PH is $50 per ticket per day for 1 to 3 day tickets and $64 per day for 4 or more day tickets. You can buy a one day ticket to visit a second park on the same day but that would cost way more ($105 for MK or $97 for all other parks) than adding the PH option. Cheers and have fun!!!!

Nope. An extra day on that base ticket costs $10, while the park hopper option costs $60. Disney is wise to your idea, and it won't work. I've seen people turned away at the gate.

I wasn't trying to beat the system☺️. Trying to coordinate ADRs with 4 families. The availability of some restaurants is vey limited.

Similar question. I just returned yesterday. I had a 6 day base ticket I purchased from UT. I was planning on using it for my granddaughter this August. I took it with me and stopped at guest services (gateway) and asked if I could purchase the hopper option for this ticket and was told NO. Is it because it was purchased through UT? I thought I could do this so was confused when I was told I couldn't. This is an unused ticket and was purchased about 5 years ago. I did have it converted to the new plastic ticket so I can link it to her. So now I'm trying to rearrange my dining plans since we can't hop now. I thought they would gladly take my money to upgrade, but wasn't the case. The CM tried several different options and said it was not possible to add the hopper feature to this ticket.

I have never heard of regular UT tickets being ineligible for upgrades (and have done it myself multiple times). Was this ticket a non-expiring ticket? That's the only possible thing I could think of that might cause a problem, but i still doubt it. And that's only because they did away with non-expiring tickets and there's not a lot of data yet from people upgrading those.

I think you had a bad cast member.

Oh new thought! You don't want to do that upgrade until the ticket is used once! That should not affect whether or not you COULD upgrade, but it will affect the price you pay to do it. And with a ticket purchased 5 years ago, that could be significant. Wait until you GD uses it once, then see about upgrading.

1. For SURE. UT tickets CAN be upgraded.
2. Ditto that, too. Use ticket(s) at least one time to enter a park before upgrading.

My DS upgraded his UT tix. It must be used once at any park. Then you can hoppers, extra days or water parks. Don't worry.

Thanks. It is just a 6 day base ticket (it expires 14 days after first use). I did ask the cm if I use it once could I then add hopper and he said he didn't know. I thought by going to the guest relations window I would get a seasoned cm. We are staying at BLT and was hoping to hop in the evenings. The rest of us are Passholders. We were both confused after leaving the window.

AND, just to keep things crystal clear...

You are not REQUIRED to first use an authorized reseller ticket (like from UT) in order to make it eligible for upgrade. (You could upgrade that ticket without using it first.)

BUT, the REASON to use the ticket at least once to enter a theme park BEFORE you do the upgrade... is to save you money.
Once you use a ticket, Disney then will give you full current GATE value (the cost of that ticket as if you had bought it at
a WDW gate) in the upgrade transaction.

If you DON'T use a discounted ticket before upgrading, Disney will only give you what the reseller (like UT) paid to DISNEY
for the ticket (the wholesale price) which is even LESS than YOU paid for that ticket.

Why?
Don't worry about why. It's a Disney bookkeeping thing.

But DO use the ticket before doing the upgrade.
It can only save you money.

AND...
Be sure that you know EXACTLY what the upgrade should cost before you do the transaction.
If the CM gives you a higher price, nicely ask if you could speak to a manager.
If still no joy, nicely say that you have changed your mind, thank them, and walk away.

Then later, go to a different ticket window or Guest Relations and get the proper price.

How do you know the proper price?
Post here. Lots of us can help you.

You can most certainly upgrade your UT ticket. No doubt about it. Just about every CM at Guest Relations located at each theme park (and DTD) can do this procedure. Unfortunately, you encountered one who fell short. First thing you must do, as Previous Posters wrote, is USE YOUR UT TICKET to enter a Theme Park. This procedure elevates the value of your ticket to current Disney gate price, no matter what you paid for the ticket 5 years ago. Then visit Guest Relations at the park or DTD for the upgrade. You will owe $64 + tax, Total $68.16, for Park Hopper add-on. If you are quoted a higher price than that, find another CM to help you.
