In 1987 a talented singer from Poland made her debut and became famous all over the world. Her name is Basia and her debut album Time And Tide became a best-selling album scoring two hit singles New Day For You and Promises and the title track recieved airplay on radio as well. Prior to her solo career Basia was part of a band named Matt Blanco. I first got interested in Basia's music when I saw her 1989 album London Warsaw New York and bought it for her version of Until You Come Back To Me and liked the song and Basia too. It's pretty shocking that singer Miki Howard did a cover of that song at the same time Basia did and both use the same identical music in their versions. That album led me to buy more Basia albums and she still is recording albums today

Never heard of her. I went and listened to a couple of her songs on YouTube, and honestly they didn't ring a bell.

I think I saw her in concert in Manhattan in the early 1990s (or earlier). I’d have to ask my dh but I remember a lot of people from my work also went.

I wasn’t really a fan, but in the 90s I was big into stereo equipment and her albums were often used in demo setups.

That was the Basia On Broadway concert that she performed at the Neil Simon Theater you are talking about Mamamary. I have that Basia album too and it's a great album and she really pours her heart into her concerts

Yes! I used to listen to her all the time when in the late '80s/early '90s. Had Time and Tide and London Warsaw New York CDs. Going to have to add her to my Spotify now that you reminded me

I didn't even know who Basia was until I saw her album London Warsaw New York and I originally wasn't gonna start with that album but her Brave New Hope remix album but since Goodwill had London Warsaw New York I bought that album and was surprised by Basia's sound. I later bought Time And Tide and her The Sweetest Illusion album from 1994 and I can say Basia really has a unique blend of Bossa-Nova and Latin beats in her songs and is still singing today and has released three albums
