Well, The Red Sox Nation must be in a good mood today. What a deal that is for the Bostonians! If it goes through of course!

My attention is on Billy Wagner, Mets will make a pitch at him today - should be a good offer - The Mets need a closer so bad!

The Yankees are not doing much and its great!!! YAY! George must not be happy - Good!!

HEY GEORGE - QUEENS IS BETTER!

Anyone else have news on their teams?

Since "my" team is "your" team, I'll just chime in and say "C'mon Billy, we need you! Please come to NY!!!"

What was wrong with Looper? He seemed ok to me.

I'm very happy the Red Sox aquired Beckett, the fact that this will make George unhappy is gravy. Do you think Omar is going to trade for Manny this year? For the longest time I always thought Manny would end that contract as a Met.

My beloved Brewers are finally at a point where the hot stove league even matters. .500 last year with a ton of young talent. I'm hoping they can work a trade sending Overbay to the Red Sox for pitching.

He was a disaster - everytime he came into a game you were biting your nails. I knew it would be a bad year back in April. I flew out to Cincy for the first game of the season - I was all reved up for my Mets - then - up two runs in the 9th inning - he gives up 3 runs without getting an out!

Of course that is only one game though...

He blew a couple of games this season and he was not dominant - the Mets never have had a dominant closer! Well, if you consider Orosco one - HA! Looper made every game interesting!

I like the Red Sox/Marlins trade. Josh Beckett's shoulder concerns me a little, but they are all undergoing physicals.

Jayson Stark of ESPN.com gave an interview this morning to the local talk radio sports station, and his thoughts were that Josh Beckett was a LOT like a young Curt Schilling. He's got the right makeup and demeanour to hold up in Boston.

He also said that Omar Minaya is 'obsessed' with Manny Ramirez. That was his word, obsessed. So if Manny's going anywhere, it's probably going to be to the Mets. But no one is really sure what they have to offer. The speculation was that the Manny trade will NOT happen until the Sox find a GM.

So the Red Sox up and coming SS Ramirez is gone. That leaves us with Rentawreck for another year? Geez, I hope not.

Bring back Cabrera, who you shouldn't have traded in the first place!

I just heard on ESPN radio that the Mets have traded Mike Jacobs & a pitching prospect to the Marlins for Carlos Delgado!

And yet another deal: the Phillies have traded Jim Thome to the White Sox for Aaron Rowand.

More Hot Stove news: Konerko is staying with the White Sox!

That's a little surprising after the Thome trade. I guess Thome's the full time DH now (that is, assuming he's healthy).

Great month for the Indians (my team) Lose one of your best (or, at least, most consistent, bullpen guys in Bob Howry and then lose out on the one closer you have in your sights in BJ Ryan   )

All they need is to lose Millwood to free agency and the trifecta is complete! :badpc:

Exactly! They wouldn't sign Cabrera because he wanted a long term deal and we had Hanley Ramirez in the wings so instead, they sign Rent-a-wreck who has the worst season of his career. What's going on? Do we really need Nomah back?!?! :earseek:

Wow - Frank Thomas - Paul Konerko and Jim Thome all on their roster. LOL!

There's no way Frank Thomas will ever play another game in a White Sox uniform (heck, it's debatable whether he'll ever play again, period).

Yea - good point! LOL!

These might be old for some of you, but here you go:
Giles will return to San Diego
Farnsworth has told the Braves he's going to be a Yankee.

You have Renteria longer than that, the Red Sox signed him to a 4-year deal. If they were so high on Hanley Ramirez in the first place, why go out and sign a guy like Renteria for 4 years? You can't buy into everything you hear, The Red Sox could have been hyping this guy just to increase his trade value, knowing that he wasn't their long-term solution.

The deal is great for Boston. Period. Beckett is flamethower, with proven post-season dominance, and a proven Yankee-killer.
