Hi

My parents are taking a short trip to Boston in a few weeks, and my Dad is a huge sports fan.

The only American sports game he’s not yet been to is a baseball match, and their hotel is only a short distance from Fenway Park so they will definitely be catching a game whilst there.

This is where they require some help!

During their trip the Redsox are playing KC and OAK. Which of these would be the best game to go to, and what the best seats would be for them?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If they haven't purchased tickets yet, find out if any are available. Fenway tends to sell out before the season begins, so it would be more a question of finding available seats rather than where and who they are playing.

This is where you can find some tickets. The bleachers can get pretty rowdy, but they are also the most fun if the game is boring. I think my personal favorite spot isright field, but everyone has their own favorite spot.

I agree with Hoodie, they might have to take whatever they can find, tickets can be extremely hard to come by. It really doesn't matter who they're playing (unless it's the Yankees, which gets super rowdy) or where they're seated - it's all good. They should also try to do the tour of Fenway if they can.

Oakland would be a great game to see- Better team than KC Imho. Better chance at beating the RED SOX! Which is a bonus in my book! Fenway is a great place to see a game. You feel like you are on the field. It gets way rowdy though. (I suppose not quite as much as your football games can get though!)

I can second Stubhub as a great place to order tickets for sold out games.

GO YANKEES!!

Thanks for the stub-hub hint everyone. :)

Java, :rotfl: I think my Dad will be fine- He was a Premiership referee for many years, so he has a lot of experience with rowdy fans! Also, when he was a teen he'd go to football games and try and sit in the opposition end on purpose. Not a smart move, although he seems to look back fondly upon those times.

I'll let you know which game he deicdes to see. (They have booked the Fenway tour I believe.)

I just saw KC play last night...in cold temps and the rain! They used to be really good, when I was a teen they seemed to be in the playoffs every year! However, they've been really bad for a long time now! :headache: Last night they won so maybe this year will be different! :worship: Have fun! Baseball is my favorite sport to watch. Lots of it is slow and boring but when it's exciting, it's really exciting!!!:thumbsup2 Make sure to have your dad eat a hotdog while he's there! Nothing beats a hotdog at a baseball game!

Heehee, I told him about the Hotdogs!

I went to a Dodgers game a couple of years back and we all bought caps and ate hot dogs.

We didn't have a clue what was happening game-wise (all of a sudden everyone starting cheering and it turns out the Dodgers won! :rotfl:) but we had great fun singing and cheering!

"a baseball match"! - how cute!

(It's a "game".)

OK - I'm sorry that sounded rude & I didn't mean to be. :)

Have them see my Oakland A's if they have a choice. But getting whatever is available may be the only choice. (Sometimes games during the week, not on the weekend, are easier to get into around here. It may be the same in Boston.)

Haha, it wasn't rude Julie. :)

It's because we always say 'footbal match' :)

What does the A in Oakland A's stand for?

Make sure they practice Sweet Caroline. :thumbsup2

Oh, sweet Caroline
Good times never seem so good
I've been inclined to believe it never would

Oakland is playing great baseball these days, but it has all been because their pitching has been lights out. So I would expect a low scoring game involving the A's. For the Royals? They live and die by Greinke. Go when he's pitching and it will be low scoring, if not high scoring with the Royals probably losing.

A's A's A's :) They are our favorite team. And they are playing so well right now! I hope your parents enjoy the game. :)

For someone new to the game, the best seats are likely to be a few rows up on the first base side. This would let them see the pitching and any action that takes place around first base.

You can call it a baseball match if we can call it a cricket game. ;)

At Fenway, this would take either a ton of money or an Act of God. :lmao:

Point taken. I searched for the best available seat for one of those games and the best seat still available from the box office is an obstructed view ticket in the right field box.
