Baseball fans.... get in here asap!!

Adri, you want me to vote for whom???? I just do not think that voting for such an overrated player on a notoriously 'choking' team is something that I can do in good conscience. Now, if he was talented the way that Carlos Delgado is he would need not need this ‘extra voting’ to get him in. Last I checked Carlos was leading the American League in votes, not bad for a guy playing in Toronto eh?

Javy could always petition to join the Little League World Series (they always fudge birth certificates there), he’d have a legitimate shot at making that All-Star team … I think;)

Ok, Boss, you're a little out of your element on this one. Explain how, exactly, Javy is overrated this year. Javy has 23 HR 48 RBI and a .314 BA. The next closest catcher in the MAJORS (not NL) is Posada with 16 49 .250. The next closest NL catcher is Pudge with 10 46 .300. There is no more deserving catcher.

And how, exactly, are the Braves chokers? I mean just being on top of the NL heap for 11 years isn't exactly choking. So they've only won 1 WS. I mean Toronto had a great run in the early 90's, but they haven't been as good for as long. I just don't buy into the whole "Buffalo Bills" choking argument. If you were chokers, you don't make it to the dance in the first place.

Delgado deserves to go to the AS game. No question. Us real baseball fans don't just vote for our favorite players, we vote for the most deserving. ;)

DEREK JETER!

I usually try to refrain from voting for Yankees, since they'll all be there anyway, but I did vote for Posada, he's the best AL catcher. A-Rod and Nomar are WAY ahead of Jeter, and Jet although I love the guy will never beat out ARod - never. He spent a long bit on the DL. But he's definitely a great shortstop.

Luckily Javy is on SSB's fantasy league team!

Have always liked him since watching him two years in the minors (AAA Richmond, VA)

Chipper was there.... and even "Dave" (not David yet) Justice. Some great years.

Adri:
As for your cutsie little league comment, I will refrain from slapping you silly because I'm sure you have been beaten up by girls all your life and I don't want to traumatize you further. All I can say is.....Be afraid. Be very afraid
Beaten up by girls is something that I truly cherish epically when you throw some mud in there too. You could never traumatize me Adri that is unless you actually believe what you wrote. I know that you would like to beat and whip me into shape but why don’t we just keep that in our PM’s like we have been doing, what do you say hun? Please, only one PM at a time as I keep getting these messages saying that my in box is full.;)

I am all too familiar with Javy’s stats, I never said that I wasn’t, I just said that he is overrated. He has had many sub par years lately compared to his late 90’s numbers. I am sorry that I can not voice my opinion here without comment, I mean it would be like you saying that Steven Tyler is too commercial now – that would be your opinion.;)
I do classify the Braves as chokers as they have been to the big dance many times and came up empty all but once. They have also bowed out of the playoffs to much lesser teams before even getting to the dance. You want to compare them to the Blue Jays of the early 90’s, no problem. The Jays had a very good run from 1991-93 of which they won the World Series in 92 and 93 - 92 against of all teams The Braves and 93 against Philly (sorry Adri). Agreed that any fan would like to have their team in the dance every year even if they bow out but it does not mean that you can not label them chokers. They failed to get the job done, they dropped the ball when the opportunity was there. The Jay went to the dance twice and was successful both times. I do not buy into the Buffalo Bill thing either, I have been a long time Broncos fan so I know all about choking teams, until their last two Super Bowl appearance. My definition and your definition of chokers may vary, yes they made it to the dance but always went home without the girl – chokers.:teeth:
Us Canadian fan know a lot about sports too, we follow the sport and not the home team, favorite team or favorite player. I always vote for the most deserving if he deserves it of course. :smooth:

To think, the Jay beat the Braves (Adri's favorite player's team) and the Phillies (her home town team) Now I understand why you can not see eye to eye with me;) :p

um, boss, unless I'm mistaken, the Braves did win a World Series title....

No, you're not mistaken -- it's a sore subject around these parts.  Not as much as '97, the Florida Marlins and Jose Mesa, but it's next in line.

In re-reading the Boss's post, he does acknowledge the Braves win. My bad.

The only choke job the Braves pulled was against the Yankees in the 1996 WS...up 2-0 going home only to drop the next 4. When your rotation features Smoltz, Glavine and Maddux, you should NEVER lose 4 in a row.

I am glad to see that you are coming around and seeing why it is that I called them chokers. Yes they are and have been a talented team but only got the job done once.

I'm not coming around and calling them chokers. They choked once in 11 years. Every other year they either ran into a hotter team or one that was better.

I hate to interrupt, but........ didn't the Braves choke last year? I mean granted, it was the playoffs and not the WS, but they certainly bit the big one and didn't make it very far. I'm sure they'll do better this year (and yes, before you say it, I know, better than my Phillies can ever hope to do) :)

Yes Adri, you are right they did choke. I am glad to see that you are agreeing with me. Before long you will be writing about Javy's lack of catching skills;) :p

Did I say that I wanted you? I never settle hunny;) :p

Javy is a beast, I was ready for the Braves to trade him before this season but now kid's my fave Bravo other than Maddux and Andruw. There should be no debate as to whether or not he should start, he is by far the best catcher in baseball this year.

No way that Posada should be in the All Star Game over Jason Varitek. Varitek is batting .291 and is a much better defensive catcher then Posada! Unfortunately just wearing pinstripes gives you an advantage. I respect Jeter but again there is no way he should be on the All Star Team this year. Go Nomar :bounce:
