Just taking a stab in the dark here...was anyone here at the BM show at the PNC Arts Center in NJ last night? (Was a terrible experience...theater flooded due to terrible thunderstorms, three feet of water by stage, water pouring from ceiling, we were all trapped in ampitheater until storm passed after 3 hours, show cancelled).

Anyone else share the fun I had last night?

That's awful. Sorry your concert was cancelled :(

Sounds like the Barry Manilow song "Looks Like We Made It" sounds appropriate after all that water.

How awful!

That's too bad. I heard his concert is wonderful.

I bet CookieGVB was there, but, she hasn't checked in yet to let us know how it went.

Yup, I was there - scared as all hell with the lightning, and the flood waters that rose up to our knees, not to mention one section of the roof absolutely POURING water into the seating area - we were convinced it was going to give way.

The storm was concentrated right over the venue (Monmouth County), and when I got home, I found out that there was severe damage in Ocean County as well.

The staff tried their best to get the show back up and running, but it was next to impossible, with the rain continuing for so long. The show was rescheduled for today at 3:00 p.m. (and all of you who know me, know that I had tickets for all 3 shows this weekend, and saw two shows today) - we were calling it the Manilow Triatholon (obviously the swimming event was Friday night - lol). Today's show was a blast, even though it was hot, hot, HOT outside. We didn't mind very much, and had a great time.

Friday night's episode kind of makes my signature logo take on a WHOLE new meaning! LOL!

To Mr. J. Cricket: your logo was FAMOUS this weekend, when we turned it into t-shirts and a poster-sign. The show was being taped for a live CD to be released later this year, and there was a photographer who took a shot of people holding signs - one of them the Survivor sign. We also sent a t-shirt back for Barry with one of his band members, who thought the sign was cool. So...thanks! :)

Hey Cookie...I guess you got to make it yesterday at 3:00...I was so terribly disappointed because I couldn't go. I looked forward to the concert for months and then that terrible storm took it away from me!

Please tell me how the 3:00 show was yesterday...did Barry mention the fiasco on Friday night? Did he sing, "I Made it Through the Rain"? Please let me know any details...I would love to know what I missed...maybe it will make me feel as though I've finally seen Barry!

I'm so sorry you missed it altogether. :( It was a great show, even though it was so hot.

He talked about the Friday night catastrophe - said that he was so sorry for what happened and they did all they could, but they couldn't get the electricity back for the show and go on safely. Said there was rain of BIBLICAL proportions - he'd never seen anything like it in his entire career (and I read an article in the Asbury Park Press where someone who was a meteorologist for 30 years said basically the same thing about the storm). Said it looked like the Posiedon adventure, and joked that he thought he saw Shelly Winters floating by...

He came out wearing his sunglasses - it was hilarious...then demanded to know who we all were, and what were we doing in his hotel room. LOL

For Can't Smile Without You he picked a huge sign from way in the back, and it turned out to be a 9 year old girl and her 7 year old brother - it was the cutest thing I've ever seen. He was a little bumfuzzled at first, but sat them both on the piano, got their mother to come up with them, and all four sang together. I've seen a lot of shows, but this was priceless - he said it was the best of the tour, and I'd have to agree.

You'll be happy to know that the shows at PNC were being recorded for a live CD that will be released later this year - so at least you'll get to HEAR the show you missed. My friends took plenty of pictures - PM me with your email addy, and I'll make sure to send you some!

There are some reviews on his fan club site message boards at www.barrynet.com You can check them out if you want more gory details - LOL

Thanks so much for all the info...makes me feel more of a part of what I missed. I just PM'd my e-mail address to you. Thanks again!

So sorry to hear that you missed the make up show, Pentex! We were there on Saturday night, and the show was amazing!! He was taping that night for his upcoming live CD, as well. That's so neat that you went to all 3 shows, CookieGVB! He did an absolutely wonderful job, as always - he puts on such a great show! And I loved his new music from his "Mayflower" CD - the songs sound like they could be made into a Broadway musical, along with "Harmony"! So sorry to hear about what happened Friday night, though - I felt so badly for the people in that audience, who waited for so long in that horrible weather!

Have a nice day! :)

My wife and I went to our first Manilow concert last month in Birmingham, AL.

He obviously had a cold and it was obvious in his speaking and singing voice, but it was still a good show.

He did not pull anyone from the audience to sing with him, so I was dissapointed in that as well.

He complained good naturedly about how humid it was in the amphitheatere, but we thought it was rather cool. The rain that had been forcast did not arrive thankfully; he would have been covered, we were not!

I guess he got it in buckets later though! I'm sorry to hear about it.

Thanks for the sympathy, IASW Rider...I have always wanted to see Barry and I'm bummed out. As soon as the opening act left, I said to my friend, "I can't believe that in 15 minutes, I'm finally going to see Barry" and then the heavens opened up.

You know, Barry is writing the music for a Broadway show! That will be a show I'll have to see.
