Any suggestions for things to see/do in Barrie, Ontario? We are Grandparents taking DGS 6 to Wasaga Beach. We will however, be staying in Barrie.

Lower end of $$ cost, would be best.

It depends on when you are going. If you are going the long weekend in August at the Beach there is an outdoor art festival called Kempenfest. They also have rides etc set up. Other then that I'm no from there but have family there. So I can't help past this upcoming weekend.

Thanks, we are heading up after this long wk end. We are in Niagara and have found the traffic to get there from here, really congested on long wk ends. We as his Grandparents don't mind so much, but he finds it too long.

We have enjoyed Kempenfest, during our past summer visits.

Just 20 mins north of Barrie is the Elmvale Zoo. It's inexpensive and he will be able to get up close and feed the animals.

Elmvale is a cute lil zoo. We've enjoyed it several times. There's also a boat cruise on the water called the Serendipity Princess. My daughter is moving there in a month....

A Rainy Day option, shoudl you need one, is In Play - it's an indoor playground that my kids STILL enjoy going to, and they're now almost 8 & 9.5! it's in teh south end of Barrie, not far off of Mapleview dr.
