My son is really tall (36" at 18 months) so he will be tall enough to ride the Barnstormer when we visit in December. He will be 20 months old at that time. Is there any reason for a child that young not to ride? I haven't been on it, so I don't know how jolting it is. He likes "rough-housing", being startled, and the other rides he was on our last visit. Thanks for any advice!

My DD rode barnstormer when she was 17 months. She loved it!! She also rode splash mountain and TT when she was 2 1/2. Sometimes its a benefit for the taller little ones since they get to ride early. Enjoy your trip.

We did not put my daughter on because I didn't feel comfortable that she would understand to stay seated. It really was only a concern because we could not ride with her. We took her with us on all sorts of other rides though.

Best Wishes!

Just to clarify adults can ride on the Barnstormer if they like and don't have any health issues to prevent it. I always rode with my dd's, its a fun little coaster.

OP as long as your child meets the height restriction he can ride, again heath issues permitting. This is also a ride where you can see the entire track so you can judge yourself if it looks like something your child would want to ride. You could also sneak off at some point to ride and see for sure if he could handle it or if you would want him to ride. My dd's were well over 2 before they were tall enough but both loved it from the first ride.

Thank you! That is exactly what I wanted to know. I wouldn't send him alone, but I think he'll enjoy it with us. :)

My Ds was just over 2 on our trip in September but he was 35 inches and could not ride. He rodes lots of other stuff though. I guess if you feel comfortable with him than just hold and arm around him when you ride. DD didn't ride until she was 3 either.

My ds rode it one time when he was 23 mos.

He loves the fast rides but after that one time I decided it could wait because it was just a little bit too fast for him at that point.

After that I read on the Dis that they actually have a minimum age for The Barnstromer - age 3. Of course we weren't challenged -- it probably really depends on the CM's running the ride. I was able to find it on the WDW website too: Disneyworld.com Barnstormer Info
TIPS & FUN FACTS
The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm is designed for adults and children to be able to ride together. Children must be at least three years old to ride.
This is in the right margin and the "tips and fun facts" changes, so you may have to hit refresh a few times to see the part I quoted.

Just FYI. :goodvibes

Thanks! Great info. I wonder why they don't post that on the ride. My son was 2 months shy of 3 when he first rode it, but that was when the height was also 38 inches. I didn't hesitate at all to take him since he met the height and loves rides like that, but had they had the sign posted I am sure I wouldn't have taken him.

I have 1 question. DS is small for his age 9 (he is only in the 5%) he will be 4 when we go but I do not think he will be tall enought for the ride but all all his friend will be. How should I talk to him about it? Any help would be nice. Thank you.

Thanks for the info, all4fun. I wonder why they don't advertise that better? I've been looking all over to see if there was an age restriction.

I wouldn't only because when I went on it this past September it whipped me around something fierce and I swear when I got off, my back was realigned!
But the kids really liked it and they are 4 and 2.5. They also sat together in front of me while I (obviously) sat behind them in the car.

It is a cool ride though for a 'kiddies' ride!

It really depends on the child... My older son first rode at 2 and loved Barnstormer. He is now 5 and rides everything he's tall enough for at 47".

We took my younger son on for his first Barnstormer ride at 2 and he was terrified. We tried again when he was just 3, and still he hated it. We're going again (he's still 3) in a few weeks, and he will not be riding Barnstormer this time (I figure we can stop torturing him over this... :rolleyes2 ).

My daughter wacked her head against the side of the car when she was 3 and it took us a year to get her back on it. At 4, she now loves it, but it does whip the little ones around!
