I'm heading to Universal with my sons in two weeks. My 2 year old is a huge Barney fan (almost to the point of being scary). Has anyone else taken their little Barney fan to the Barney show at Universal? How was it? Do the kids get to actually "meet and greet" with Barney at all? Any tips?

We saw Barney our very first WDW trip....my daughter was almost 3...so this was five years ago. She LOVED Barney. Ate, drank, slept the big purple dinosaur.

Get there early. We got in line maybe 20-30 minutes early and got front row seats. My DD was just livid with excitement. Even my DS who was almost 6 at the time - and said he didn't like Barney - loved it. They were both dancing in the aisle.

Yes, there was a meet and greet right after the show. I have pictures of my daughter hugging Barney. I have to say that this show was the highlight of our trip. It brought tears to my eyes to see my kids enjoy themselves so much. Show was very good and characters took their time with the kids afterwards.

ENJOY

I admit I've endured it a few times. there's a short pre-show and then you go into the theater. it's in the round, and you're very close to the stage. it's a little less than a half hour show. it's got bj and baby bop. it's basically a sing-along of the big barney hits with a little story. the little kids go insane. and yes, after the show you go into barney's playground for a meet and greet and pictures with the purple guy. it's fun to watch the little kids, because they're the same costumes as the TV shows. barney magically appears on stage and they're 10 feet away from the kids.

Thanks so much for the info! I'm even more excited about it now, especially being able to get pics of him with Barney. He's going to flip out!

No need to get there early. Just go all the way to the back row in the pre-show and all the way down to the waterfall doors. When they open you will be able to go in and get a front row seat. Yes, I have endured this many times. I would not wait for it though.

sharing the misery :) :

Oh boy, thanks for the pics! My 2 year old came in and saw them, he's off another tangent of shouting "Barney, BJ, Bop" all over the house :) It looks like a nice small setting for the show. I think my only concern will be holding him back so he doesn't try to rush the stage :)

there's a big barney fountain outside the theater for photo ops, and a barney store with items with the US logo. my daughter was a huge barney fan, so I understand. when you enter the theater, the exit is on your left. try to get a front seat there, so you'll cut your wait time to meet barney. you can go in and play in the playground anytime, but barney only appears after shows.

Wow, thanks so much for all of the great info. I did not expect such awesome responses. Thanks for the great tips, I know it will help make the experience more enjoyable for both of us!

Where is Slacking when we need him? He's the Barney fan here. He even dragged me to Barney with him once.

How could I be missing a Barney thread!!!?!?!?!?!?!?! (maybe its because I'm in mourning over American Idol, lol)

C'mon Bev....... ya liked it! Who doesn't? Its actually a fun show!

One more tip. Hang out in Barney's playground while a show is going in the theater. They will make an announcement that the show is about to let out. This would be a good time to get in line to meet Barney to avoid a possible line.

Most recently when get to Barney - tends to only open at 10 - we take Joshua into the playground area and Barney is usually always there for photos etc.
Overall he must be the easiest character for the kids to see and have their photos taken with.

Gosh, the pictures, the sweet and funny posts...I'm in tears! Ds came home to us at 2, he's almost 6, we finally have an official adoption date at the end of the month, and now I've got the..."we're a happy family"...in my head and I'm at my desk at work boo hooing, thanks guys! LOL!

I thought it was a great show! Enjoy it, before you know it they're too cool for Barney.

If you scrapbook, be prepared to pick up some of the "things" (don't want to give it away, lol) that fall from the sky.

Yep, we still have 'things' that fall out of drawers, diaries etc, collected from the shows over the years ;)

DD, now 7, absolutely adores Barney but at least, now she's older, we get to only see one show a day - rather than having to wait in line for them all............ :rotfl:

Still makes me want to burst into tears whenever we go to watch because he's so sweet! :rolleyes1

don't worry, they'll stay closet barney dorks for years. my daughter(in the pink) and a friend VERY recently. you're 12 now girls, let him go.... :)
