my daughter is 6 1/2 years old, and she is just barely 48" tall in her tennis shoes... will she be allowed on the rides??? How sloppy/tough are they on the height requirement? I am about to go buy her taller tennis shoes if I have too!!!! help?

thanks - we head to Disney on Wednesday!! YIPPPEEE

In my experience they are very strict. My dd was over the 44 inch requirement for Space Mt and rode it twice one day. Later that night we returned and she was to short - weird huh.

Next day she was fine again. They will not make exceptions and I think the sticks have a bit of height figured in for shoes. They will also take off hats and measure to the head - not the puffy hair LOL.

Be sure and tell your child to stand tall but not to tip toe - sometimes the tend to slouch as they really don't know what's going on. Tell your dd that she wants her head to touch the stick!!

My 7yo is about 47 1/2 inches and I have her prepared not to ride PEW and RnRc. Even with her regular school sketchers she is just over 48 inches and I don't think that will do it.

Personally I would rather wait a year than take a chance on safety.

Actually, my friend's daughter was allowed on a ride with a "tall" height requirement. She was shorter than was allowed, but she had shoes on that made her a couple of inches taller, and the CMs allowed her on. In fact, she was allowed on ALL the rides!BTW, her daughter was about 9 at the time.

Really? You don't think that 48 is with sneakers? Ya know, average sneakers...not platform shoes? My son is just over 48 with his sneakers on...I thought that was what we were shooting for!!! Any other experiences out there with measuring!?!!! My son is psyched about RRC and I'd hate for that 1/4-1/2 inch stand in his way!

Sneakers are fine, don't worry. But CMs have been taught to look for "heightening" things, like platform-type shoes or kids on tip-toe, or other things parents do to make their kids taller. If he's 48" in regular tennis shoes or sports shoes, then he's good to go. Enjoy!

We had a similar situation. Our DD age 7 was having me measure her for the 3 months leading up to our vacation in hopes she'd make the 48 inches for RnR. For a long time she was 47 with no shoes on.

Well, I bought these sneakers that had a bit of a heal but not platform by any means just to be sure she'd be over 48 inches. They really worked. By the time our trip came, she was 48 inches without the shoes and then the shoes just made SURE she wouldn't be turned away.

But, yes, they are pretty strict!

Good luck!

Wdwresearcher, PHEW!!! Thanks for that info!! For safety reasons I would never want to try and 'cheat' the system (friends tried to talk me into that this past summer at Six Flags and I was adament about saying no way!). I just had assumed that 48 inches in shoes was what I was shooting for! I have been using the "if you don't eat your veggies how are you supposed to be tall enough to ride the loopy coaster?' ploy for the last 6 months and I would hate to have him disappointed! RRC is me, my bro and my older son's FAVORITE ride and my younger one has just been dying to ride it!!!
