HI, bought the mineral veil a few weeks ago...i like it, BUT its just so messy - thinking of returning it for a compact type powder - anyone have one they really like, that is not cakey looking on?

MAC Select Sheer Pressed powder (mine is about a year old, so the name may have changed slightly). Goes on nice and sheer, and feels light. Also, color-matched to MAC's foundations. There is no SPF factor in the powder, so you will need to apply sunscreen as well.

I totally hear you on the messiness of the BE powders. When I was buying my kit at Sephora, the woman ringing me up mentioned that BE makes a brush where you put the powder in the handle and it dispenses a bit when you shake it for application. It seems this might have been response to people complaining that the product is messy and gets everywhere! Just wanted to let you know :goodvibes

If it is messy, you are using WAY too much! My friend used to use Clinique powder and was using it their way and said the same thing.

Keep the jar upright, flip it upside down and turn it upright right away- in one motion. When you open the lid there will be a tiny amt. on inside of lid. Not even a brush full.
Swirl and buff.

This is what I do with the foundation, blush & veil. I occasionally have a little that will sprinkle on the counter, but it rarely happens.

I was just going to say the same thing. I've been using BE for almost 5 years and rarely have any get loose!

will try, i've been shaking it up, but dipping my brush in the powder not the lid side..

Did you pull the cover completely off as in all the holes appear? I only pull back the cover and cut a portion off or I put tape over it and punch through a couple holes. This keeps powder from flying everywhere.

If you want to stay with mineral, Clinique and Elizabeth Arden both make the powders where you turn to grind.

But for compact, I swear by Benefit's Get Even. And if it's a powder, I've tried it. :lmao:

Turn it upside down quickly and then use what's in the lid. I have been using it for years and hands down it's the best.

The foundation now has the shaker lid where you can open the holes and close them. Fabulous invention...lol. Now they need to put it on everything else.

I'll never wear anything but BE. LOVE the stuff.

Hi, Doing it that way puts WAY too much on the brush. Just shake VERY little into the lid and apply the powder onto the brush from the lid. HINT you will barely see the powder on the brush, but when you swirl the brush on your face it will be there! Joan

Try shaking a tiny amount into a small bowl (rather than the lid). No mess, and much easier to swirl the brush into.

agree! a downside of those compacts is that they have to use other products to bind the makeup together to get it to stay in a cake. i sometimes dont even shake it and just open and sweep the brush around the container to get those loose bits that seem to get on the screw part of the container.
