just wondering if u use these products what u think..My girlfriend just started using it...was recommend by her friend - good for those starting to get wrinkles etc...

what do u think of the products? which would u recommend?

thanks

I like MMU (mineral makeup), but BM is overhyped, overpriced, and filled with bismuth oxide which can irritate a lot of women -- including me. I like everydayminerals which is 1/2 the price and has no fillers. Alima is very good too, though more spendy.

I switched from BE to Mary Kay mineral makeup. Looks great, feels great, and costs less! :thumbsup2

I'm allergic to Mary Kay. I do well with BE. I just have to remember to wash it off every night. I have rosacea and even though it says it won't bother it, if I leave it on my nose breaks out. I love the coverage and ease of using it though so I just remember to wash and it's well worth it to me.
I think it's a try and see type of thing. What works for one may irritate another. If you're looking to try it find a boutique and get a make over. Use it for a day and see.

Absolutely LOVE it. I have always had "flaky" skin when I had on make-up. I have sensitive skin, so most make-up would work for awhile then I would develop an allergy to it.
I have been using BE for about 4 years without dry skin. Although it is more expensive than some skin care- it is the only one that covers the redness on my skin.
Sometimes Sephora and Ulta will offer percentages off of your order. I wear make-up 6 days out the week and a jar of foundation lasts about 3 months.

I have tried a couple of cheaper mineral make-ups and they do not work for me. The dry skin always returns. (Some people have good luck with them, but I think I have extremely sensitive skin, so I have to be careful.)

Oh, I am using their cleanser now, too, and love it. The mascara is awesome and the Buxom lip gloss and liner is amazing.

I love Bare Escentuals. At first, I thought it was a little expensive, but I use so little of the foundation that the cost is actually less than the liquid Almay I was using (2-3 bottles at $13+ vs one BE pot at $25). I love the coverage.

You can get some try-me kits with foundation, brushes and mineral veil (a translucent "setting powder".) These would be the first things to try. If you like it, then move on to face colors (blushes, radiances, all-over-face colors) and eye colors. I personally love the Buxom lip glosses. QVC has some good deals at times on color kits.

So, start with foundation, foundation brush and mineral veil. If you like it, move on. My skin looks so much better with BE makeup, but everyone is different.

Oh, and to explain, the All-over-face colors are colors that you can use as blush, eye shadows and you can even dip lip balm in for a lip color.

thank u, think i will treat myself for the new year..not even sure my mall has a bare essential store - but i'm guessing i can just get it at Sephora! Do the sales girls at Sephora know what they are doing - meaning do you think they can help me pick out a color for my skin?

thanx...

I love my bare escentuals! I've been using it for more than 5 years! It does seeme to last a long long time! It looks very natural - a woman I work with commented that she couldn't believe I was wearing makeup(except for the eyes) She just thought I had wonderful clear skin! lol. I buy mine from QVC

i got a small trial size of bare escentuals a couple months ago, and i have to say, i really like the way it makes my skin look. and it feels like i'm not wearing makeup at all, which i LOVE, even with my regular blush and eye makeup. i will definitely be buying a starter kit soon.

I LOVE BE. I started with the foundation and have gradually added eye shadows, lipsticks, etc. My sister and I buy it for each other for gifts. I've never had a makeup I loved as much as BE.

I just got BE as a Christmas present! I'd been wanting to try it for years but always thought it was too expensive. I read a lot of good reviews here on the boards and decided I'd try it. It's the best foundation I've ever had and it looks completely natural. I have a lot of redness and scars due to acne, but it covers it up completely and doesn't irritate my skin. The one I have is a starter kit that was on sale at ULTA.

Guess I'll be the lone dessenter here. I used for a year and didn't like the coverage really. I switched to a mineral liquid foundation (MAC) and like the coverage a lot better.

I wore Bare Minerals for years and then I tried Everyday Minerals after I read about it here on the disboards...and I will never go back! You can't beat the price of EM and my skin has not looked this good in ten years. You can order a free sample from their website and just pay the shipping on it. I believe the shipping was about 3 dollars to get to where I am (New England) and I wore the makeup from the sample for about a month, at least. Like most makeup, a little goes a long way!

You can purchase it at Sephora - that's where son's fiance resupplies her stock.

I am subscribed to the auto-delivery myself.

As a suggestion to TRY it - just in case you are irritated by it (it's not too common but it DOES happen as mentioned), buy either a trial kit OR buy a brush and a container from eBay. You can probably easily get started with a face or buki brush & a container for under $20 to $25. I usually buy kits on QVC - keep what I want & sell the remaining items - a lot of people do this and its a great way to add eye colors, etc to your collection once you get started - without paying a ton of money. You can get tons of new sealed products on eBay.

The only product I buy that is not a BE one is an under eye cover - for some reason I virtually have 'black eyes' and not even BE can cover it - so I use a MAC stick under my eyes.

I loved it but unfortunately my eyes didn't. I took me a long time ( my eye doctor as well) to figure out something in it caused an allergic reaction to my eyes. I switched to Everyday Minerals and I am fine. I love the coverage with mineral foundation and refuse to go back to a liquid. As others have said I would try a small kit first and see how you like it.

Hello -
I would suggest finding a local salon/store that will do a make-over or demo on you to see how it feels/looks. I did and found it made my skin look older and I was not a fan of the feel. Made the decision easy for me. :thumbsup2

not alone I did not care for it either.

I have tried several mineral makeup lines and my favorite now since I am 36 and starting to get fine lines is Smashbox halo, it is made for fine lines and has a container that rations the powder out as you need it, so no waste opening up the containers with loose powder. The second favorite was sheer cover, it looked more natural on my fair skin then bare essentials. I used bare essentials for a while, but thought it felt to heavy and the was drying to my skin type. If it is fine lines that is a concern then in my experience Bare Essentials is not the best line for your girlfriend.

I got it after hearing all the wonderful reviews, and I just don't like it. It doesn't give me any coverage, and if I put enough on to "cover", it looks cakey. Maybe it's just me and my fair skin, I don't know. Big waste of close to $100 in my book. :(

I went along with the hype and bought it too, and I HATED it.

If you're looking for something that looks like a powder but covers VERY well, try the Clinique line "Even Better." It's actually got some of their Even Better forumula in it that helps clear up skin and can fade any sun marks, acne scars, etc. over time. I'm 25, and BE made me break out all the time. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I switched to the Clinique as a rec from my doctor, and now my skin is as soft as a baby's skin and looks fantastic! I can even go days without make-up because the Even Better part of the Clinique has made my skin look so healthy.
