Bare Essential Make-up - whats ur opinion?

I just got BE as a Christmas present! I'd been wanting to try it for years but always thought it was too expensive. I read a lot of good reviews here on the boards and decided I'd try it. It's the best foundation I've ever had and it looks completely natural. I have a lot of redness and scars due to acne, but it covers it up completely and doesn't irritate my skin. The one I have is a starter kit that was on sale at ULTA.

I got it for Christmas too:santa: I have to watch the DVD it came with:rotfl2:

I love it! I am generally not a make up wearer, but now that I have BE I wear make up more often than I used to. I love that it is sweat proof and very natural. It does not irritate my skin, but as others suggested, you may want to try it out before buying.

Sephora will do a makeover on you to make sure you use the right colors. You can also get samples at no charge.

If you think you might want heavier coverage, Bare Escentuals came out with a Matte foundation which provides heavier coverage.

I'm not a BE fan at all. I have insanely oily skin and nothing BE makes can keep it under control. Even tried the matte and it just didn't work for me. I'm back to MAC Studio Fix...

I loved it but unfortunately my eyes didn't. I took me a long time ( my eye doctor as well) to figure out something in it caused an allergic reaction to my eyes. I switched to Everyday Minerals and I am fine. I love the coverage with mineral foundation and refuse to go back to a liquid. As others have said I would try a small kit first and see how you like it.

I've had an allergic reaction to something on one eyelid. The dermatologist said that we could do further allergy testing. I quit using the Bare Minerals along with just about everything else. It's clear right now and I would love to go back to Bare Minerals, but I'm a little scared it was that. What kind of allergic reaction did you have? I had worn Bare Minearls for over a year before this reaction started.

I LOVE my Bare Minerals. I was a Clinique girl during all of my teens, 20's and 30's. I started wearing Bare minerals about 6 years ago. I LOVE IT. My 19 year daughter started about 2 years ago. My mom who is 72 loves it too. She has been wearing it about 4 or 5 years now. I can't say one negative thing about it. :thumbsup2

I love BE. I've used it for a couple of years now and wouldn't go back. Liquids are so cakey and obvious looking on me, but the BE looks totally natural and I don't feel like I'm wearing makeup :thumbsup2

have her try Jane Irredale its mineral makeup that you can usually only get from dermatologist or a salon but in my opinion much better quality the BE. BE is good but Jane Irredale is somehow smoother.

I love BE... I have slowly phased out everything else I have owned and now solely have BE products. The lip gloss is amazing, the eyeshadow is great and I love the mineral veil.

I use so little.. it lasts forever!

I have tried several mineral makeup lines and my favorite now since I am 36 and starting to get fine lines is Smashbox halo, it is made for fine lines and has a container that rations the powder out as you need it, so no waste opening up the containers with loose powder. The second favorite was sheer cover, it looked more natural on my fair skin then bare essentials. I used bare essentials for a while, but thought it felt to heavy and the was drying to my skin type. If it is fine lines that is a concern then in my experience Bare Essentials is not the best line for your girlfriend.

agreed.........
i've used Bare Essentials (too heavy) and Everyday Minerals (too light). the two mixed together is better, but not perfect.
however, smashbox halo is the closest to perfection i've found. it's a bit more expensive, but worth every penny:thumbsup2 very natural look with great coverage. it's not drying, doesn't settle into fine lines like BE, applies evenly, and even has that great unmessy case!
fyi, buy it at ulta, when they have the 20% coupon that is good on almost everything.
