Hi! Any previous cruisers out of Barcelona have a recommendation for traveling to port from the airport? Thanks :)

We arrived the night before and used autos vilar as private transport from airport to hotel, then DCL transfer from hotel to port the next morning.

There are plenty of taxis there this is faster than DCL no need for a coach to fill up with 55 people and cheaper than DCL, loads of taxis no need to pre book.

We are arriving 2 nights before, to 1-make sure a late flight doesn't cause us to miss the boat and 2-take in some sights (how often do we get to go to Barcelona? :)
If you arrive before there are actually several hotels in walking distance, so that will be our method :)

peggytc great idea to spend some time in Barcelona we are doing this too.
When you say there are several hotels in walking distance do you mean to the port? As its quite a long way especially with luggage from the port entrance to the ship
We are staying in the hotel in the WTC on the quay where the Columbus statue is, this is where the buses go from to the port. It's only a few euros.
Gillian.

The best thing is to get a hotel in the city centre around Placa Cataluna. This is where the best shops are, the market, La Rambaka starts and the central hub of public transport, the airport coach stops here as well as airport rail.

We stayed in Hotel Jazz a great location, an easy taxi to the port or airport. The hotels closest to the port are expensive and still a taxi ride away. Taxis are great cheap and fast DCL transfers expensive and you wait for them to fill.

We went in 2014

Photos of Hotel Jazz can be seen by search Mickeymed and it's a three star but actually has four star amenities like a roof top pool looking over the city centre. I would add we went also in 2011 but a lot changed on transfers in those three years.

There are no hotels in walking distance to the Barcelona cruise terminal. The road to the terminal is not easy for walking so
it's best to take a taxi. Options from the Barcelona airport : either a taxi or take the DCL transfer. I would just take a taxi as
that is cheaper than DCL transfer.

Staying near the Ramblas is good, it is only a short taxi drive to the cruise terminal.

Agree.

Very true. It's actually a very, very long walk from the main road over a bridge and down the piers. Nevertheless, we saw some people doing it with luggage in tow. Not sure where they came from, but I was glad to be in a taxi. The taxi was a reasonable cost especially when you consider the amount of luggage you are bringing for a ~12 day cruise. I'd recommend using Google Maps to get a feel for how far you'd have to walk from the closest hotel. I believe it's around 1.5 miles...

Agree saw it, but there is a bus shuttle service to/from the port,

I have also seen this at Dover on the busy small road to/from the port.

The things people do to save a few $$$$$$$4

Just getting ideas since we booked a cruise leaving out of Barcelona next summer. We are planning to spend 3 or 4 night in the city before we get on the ship.

Do book near the centre IE Placa Catalunya and not the DCL hotels to the East of the City a long way out.

Hotel Jazz was fantastic, location and great rooms.

Thanks for the tips. I haven't even started to look at next summer. As soon as we get back from the Baltic, then I will start planning. :)

We are using SunTransfers. It was very reasonable--I think around $40--and is a private car. They came recommended and were easy to correspond with.
