Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for private transfers in Barcelona. We are traveling with a group of 8 and there are some in our group that are not able to use the public transportation. There are so many different companies to choose from, I’m looking for recommendations. Thanks!

Note regular regulated taxis are fine and typically better than prebooked but have used Suntransfers.
(2018 2 cruises)
Other companies have let us down, ie Barcelona day tours.

I agree with this sentiment. When you exit the Barcelona airport the taxis are plentiful and easy to find and you can just take the first two or three you see. They are all sitting there in a line. Whereas if you have a shuttle, you have to find that specific shuttle at the specific time. And it can take a really long time to go through passport control in Barcelona so it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what time they should pick you up after you land. If you’re worried about the language barrier, have three slips of paper pre-printed with the address where you are going so that one person per taxi can hand the location to the drivers.

Also, we took taxis several times in Barcelona as a family of four. My husband, who is a bit larger sat up front in the passenger seat and I sat in the back with two tween kids. We had four regular sized suitcases that fit in the trunk.

Not exactly ONLY a transfer, but we used Barcelona Day Tours. They picked us up at our hotel, took us on a little half day tour of some sights and then dropped us off at the ship at 1:30 PM (keeping our luggage safe in the van while we were sightseeing). It was not that much more than private transfers AND we got a little bonus tour in of Barcelona.

Thank you for the information. I have thought about the taxi route, but keep reading a lot about taxi strikes in Barcelona, so that worries me. I’m also hoping to have everything prepaid, so we don’t have to worry about that after we get there.

We used Limo Service Press i Car BCN for our transportation needs before and after the cruise when we went in Sept 2017 with the 6 of us. They have means for 8 people also. We also needed a booster seat for our then just turned 6 year old and they provided one even though we really werent required one over there. They were prompt, courteous and reasonable IMO.

Had loads of issues with this company. Stopped using them.

We had issues in 2017 with Sun Transfers. Getting through customs was quick (coming from the US). We waited at the designated meeting spot and watched while other deplaned passengers were getting picked up. We waited 45 minutes for our driver to arrive, and he seemed like he had no idea that he was supposed to be there. There was only two of us.

We also used Barcelona Day Tours, but we did not use them for transportation from airport-hotel or hotel-port. We booked them for a tour of Barcelona and Montserrat. They were really nice people, and the gentleman I worked with prior to arriving was super helpful.

Maybe Trip Advisor has reviews of transportation services.

That's too bad. I have yet to hear anything negative about them and many from our cruise used them.

I used Rainbow Barcelona (for tours...and I arranged my taxi from the airport to my hotel and from my hotel to the port through them - but I'm just one person), but when I was investigating the boards on Cruise Critic before my Med cruise from Barcelona, I saw MANY more people who had issues with Sun Transfers than BDT.

The only reason the taxi drivers were striking, was to protest Uber. Now that Uber is out of Barcelona I imagine that is not an issue any more.

Exactly our experience with sun. Never showed up either on outbound or return. Idiots tried to later tell me I wasn’t in the right spot, even though I had time stamped photos of myself in the designated pick up/ meeting places. Refused a refund for services not provided, and drug their feet for days on end resolving my case. I disputed the charges with Citi. I got my money back and told these guys I’d use every opportunity to talk about their scam.
